There is a vague feeling of dread hanging in the air and, as comfortable as this bed is, there’s just something off about everything, even before you open your eyes. The dread only grows when you open your eyes and realize that you are in a completely unfamiliar room. One that has clearly seen better days at that.

As you explore your room, you will soon find a bedroom key resting on the dresser along with a note]

Welcome, esteemed guest, to our humble abode. We hope that you enjoy your stay in this Phantom Manor, as we expect you to stay with us for a very long time.

Feel free to make yourself at home as you enjoy what this manor has to offer, whether it’s the library, our projection room, or our famous wax museum. We’re sure you will find great joy

However, before you can get too comfortable, we ask you to please come to the portrait gallery at noon so we can discuss your stay here.

[The uncomfortable feeling doesn’t let up as you leave the safety of your bedroom. The manor seems old and decrepit, almost like it would fall over at the slightest breeze. Despite that, anyone who tries to escape will soon realize that the walls are unusually sturdy, and there are no doors that would seemingly lead to the outside world.

Still, at least you’re not alone in this scenario, if the other bedroom doors are any indications. Maybe there are a few more people coming out of their bedrooms too, so you have someone to talk toif you want to try to figure out what's going on. But if the 30 bios in the foyer hall are any indication, whoever has you here did not do this on accident. Whatever you’re here for, it seems like you’re here for a reason.

But hey, what’s the use of being pessimistic about this? Maybe it’s all an innocent situation… right?]

[Ariel's still wandering around; her curiosity tends to get the better of her. She she hear a ruckus in the lobby, she makes her way over and peeks around the corner. It's another human girl! She can't help but be happy to see her, though she can't understand why she's making such a scene.

She decides to approach her and offers her a smile as she waves to her.]

Oh!

[More people! That's... honestly, kind of reassuring. Sure she could probably figure this out on her own. Maybe? But it's better if she doesn't have to, right?]

Hey. Just... you know, looking for a way out.

[The mansion is... okay it's not the best, but it's different. But that doesn't mean she wants to be stuck here.]

[Aaaah...that makes much more sense. Ariel nods at her now that she understands. However she just glances over to the door and shakes her head. She's already seen the others try with no luck. They were really trapped and with no idea why or who did this.]

I know... it's tougher than it looks. [...] A lot tougher.

[Moana looks back at the other girl and puts on her best confidant look.]

But we can't give up. There's no way they can keep all of us here. There's got to be a way out. If we work together, we should be out of here in no time.

[Moana's confidence does actually make her feel better, and she nods in agreement. Ariel opens her mouth to say something to her, but of course nothing comes out. Was she ever going to adjust to that? It's at least going to take time.

She at least tries to offer Moana a smile; together sure! There must be a way!]

[It suddenly sinks in. I mean... at first she figured she was just shy. This is kind of a scary situation after all. But--]

You... can't talk... can you?

[Her smile begins to dull until it's a sad frown. She shakes her head: no she can't. It's sort of painful to not even be able to explain that, but at least Moana understands now.]

I-It's okay! Don't worry. We're going to find a way out of this.

[It doesn't help the girl with her other problem but she hopes at least if she doesn't have to worry about the whole kidnapping thing maybe it'll ease her mind a little bit.]

[Ariel sighs quietly before nodding. Right... they just needed to figure out what's going on first. Oh! She suddenly perks up a bit, and she takes Moana's hand to lead her back down the hall. Her walking still isn't perfect, but she at least isn't relying on the wall anymore.

They end up in front of the portraits, and Ariel points out her own. She wants Moana to try and understand her a little better.]

[She'd seen them in passing before, but this is the first time she'd really read them.]

Oh. This is yours. I get it. You want me to read it.

[Yup another nod! She finds it kind of funny everyone is so amazed she was a mermaid. Ariel is amazed by the fact that she's with humans... among other creatures.

She smiles down at her new legs, wiggling her toes.]
