Oh, we have cents for really small denominations. I haven't heard of dollars, though.

[Holds up her hands in the general size and shape of a credit card.]

-- Oh! You mean credit cards! [laughs] We definitely have those. That's mainly what people use, but the money on them is still dollars.

Credit cards? I guess you could call them that.

[No, sadly, the cards just. Are the money, somehow. It makes sense if you don't think about it.]

Are yours for spending money you don't have but hope you'll have later, too? Or do they work differently?

No? You just- have the money and spend it.

Yeah? How else would you buy everything you want? [like she's the least materialistic person in thneedville and has still spent a small mortgage on paint]

By having money or getting it, I thought.

[She doesn't really need or own much. Money's mostly something that just. Kind of happens now and then.]

But, sometimes you want things that are worth more money than you have. That's what credit is for!

So it's like money that's for when you don't actually have money.
