[Luke opens his mouth in mock surprise. It's almost like improv between them, at this point. She's tossed him out a line, and he catches it hook line and sinker.]
You're telling me I dug this old thing out for nothing?
[He opens his cloak slightly, revealing a terribly rusted Medal of Yavin hanging from what's left of his neck. Luke gives it a second for a beat, before continuing onwards.]
Friends. Family. We've gathered here today, on terribly short notice and horribly disheveled clothes, to take part in the union of Leia and Stan. In many ways, the impromptu nature of this ceremony is to be seen not as a hindrance, but a blessing. There's no better time for these two to achieve enlightenment within the Force - and each other.
After many long trials in which their resilience was tested, these two have proven their fortitude, and their strength. Here, we see them surrounded by the friends - no, family who were able to act as torchbearers of spirit for the couple and each other during these difficult times, and those who gave their all in order to keep those flames from being snuffed out by the forces of evil.
[He inhales through his nose, taking it in. He feels it's strength here.]
In many ways, not only do the bride and groom join together today, but we all become one within the eyes of the Force, and each other.
We've gathered here now from different worlds, universes, timelines. For as many things as we share, there are things that are different. Yet, there is a constant. The sanctity of marriage is one that is shared throughout all faiths, all cultures, all walks of life. It has the power to bring untold joy, happiness, peace, contentment, companionship, intimacy and love to us. No other relationship can go as deeply as this. At the same time, marriage can also bring more pain, more heartache, more isolation, more frustration, more grief and more sorrow than any other.
In the future, happy occasions will arise as surely as the morning, and trials will present themselves as surely as night. Such is the way of the Force, and little will change this. But they have seen the potential within each other, and within themselves. Together, they will further ignite each others' kindness and compassion, and direct it both towards each other and the world around them.
For together, they are one with the Force, and the Force is with them.
If there is anyone in attendance who has cause to believe that this couple should not be joined in marriage, you may speak now or forever hold your peace.
