Fiddleford could sympathize with that. But he's starting to think that wasn't the case, because clearly Buck didn't care all that much about his son's wellbeing.]

No matter what they told you, no matter what they said, you didn't do anythin' wrong and you sure as heck don't deserve to be laughingstock for it. [Knowing his future, he may also have some strong feelings about being the town laughingstock.] And your dad best hope I never meet up with him down here because I've got some words I'd like to say to him about what it means to be a parent.
