Introduction

[You wake up in a bed.

A rather comfy bed, but as you open your eyes, you realize that this room is not one you’ve ever been in before. And even the most villainous of you should notice that something is immediately very off by how morbid your room looks. While generally clean, it looked dark and like it was a part of a very old house.

And that “Rest in Peace” throw pillow really isn’t doing the room any favors.

Meanwhile, on the dresser on top of your new notebook, there is also a message:]

When the clock strikes 13 o’clock. You must all meet in the stretching room for a special announcement.

[Well, it would be rude to refuse an invitation, right?

As soon as you leave your room, you notice a stark difference between the bedroom and the rest of the building. It looked like it hadn’t been kept up in ages, and it shows with how everything is caked in dust or covered in cobwebs. But judging by the other bedroom doors, possibly with other people peering out at the same time you, at least you’re not alone in this strange situation.

As you explore the rest of the first floor of the mansion, you’ll come to realize that, besides the bedrooms, the whole place is rather decrepit and dimly lit. While all rooms may provide a great interest in you, the the bios of all your foolish mortals might be useful to you, especially if you enjoy finding out how much your new captor has learned about you.]

Sure aren't! [somehow. Everything's strange, Fiddleford, you don't even know.]

Okay, so like, you still know... who you are, right?

[...Maybe starting from the beginning isn't going to be easier.]
terribibble: (his chin goes INSIDE him)

[personal profile] terribibble 2017-06-12 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
[... Uh.]

Last I checked, yes? Fiddleford Hadron McGucket, PhD?

[He even wrote it down just to have a concrete reminder. It's a good way to ground himself after he's lost a lot of time.]
kindaruledatit: (you know...)

[personal profile] kindaruledatit 2017-06-12 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, cool. Just checking, y'know?

[That makes it slightly easier. Maybe.]

So, for starters, you're known as "Old Man Mcgucket" in my time.
terribibble: (absolutely very upsetting)

[personal profile] terribibble 2017-06-12 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. Oh.

[It all clicks together. He talked to Ford earlier and Ford had to explain to him why he'd suddenly aged thirty years.]

You -- you're from 2012. Aren't you. So of course I wouldn't know you, you weren't born in 1982.

[It's still weird and distressing to try and wrap his head around but at least it goes a little ways toward explaining things.]
kindaruledatit: (uuuuugh)

[personal profile] kindaruledatit 2017-06-12 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. [A helpless shrug. So much for paradoxes.] Sorry, dude.

[What can she even say right now?]

You're... alive in my time. So, don't worry about that, okay?
terribibble: (reduce him to a quantum state)

[personal profile] terribibble 2017-06-12 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
I, um. I suppose that's... comfortin'.

[He isn't sure why that's the first thing she decided to tell him but on the other hand it's a nice sentiment. He won't die in this house.

Unless what Ford was saying about alternate realities is real, in which case, his future might not be the one she's familiar with at all. Paradoxes are easy to avoid when there's infinite versions of a reality to draw from and there's no guarantee you're interacting with the past or the future that corresponds to your own time.

Sometimes -- in fact very often -- he wishes he hadn't taken quite so many high-level theory courses. Maybe he'd know just enough about the universe to be awed by it instead of enough to be fundamentally distrustful of its intentions.]

And here I was thinkin' this whole mess wasn't goin' to get stranger than it was when I first woke up.
kindaruledatit: (Sorry dude)

[personal profile] kindaruledatit 2017-06-14 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
It was supposed to be? [A nervous chuckle. Boy, this is so much harder then she thought it would be a moment ago.

Was she even the best person to be talking about this? Dipper and Mabel were the ones that figured out the whole mystery in the first place, and now she has to explain to him that he's kind of out of his mind until very recently?

Why did she start with the "you're not dead" part? Stupid. She'll be mentally kicking herself for a while.
]

It gets way, way worse, dude. I mean, in general. Gravity Falls is like that.
terribibble: (absolutely very upsetting)

[personal profile] terribibble 2017-06-16 11:47 pm (UTC)(link)
[He is increasingly starting to think that maybe this is something he doesn't want to hear. The discomfort in her voice is putting him on edge -- even more on edge than he already is, anyway -- and he doesn't like it one bit. Way worse? What on earth could be way worse than what he was already dealing with?

He doesn't want to know. No, no, absolutely not.]

I -- with all due respect, I, ah. Could you tell me about your phone instead. Seems ... it seems safer.
kindaruledatit: (you know...)

[personal profile] kindaruledatit 2017-06-17 08:18 am (UTC)(link)
...Yeah, dude. Of course.

[That much, she can do. No problem at all. The further they get away from the giant, weird elephant in the room, the better.

She holds out her cellphone for him.
]

It's uh, not that special. Actually, it's kind of old, since it still flips and junk.

[Gets the job done though, which is the most she can really hope for until she can get another one.]
terribibble: (a virtual dairy queen)

[personal profile] terribibble 2017-06-18 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
['Not that special'. Pshh. He thinks it's rad. He flips it open and shut a couple of times, apparently pleased by the nice snap, and then he starts pressing buttons. At least he's adept enough at technology that he doesn't fuck anything up. He can kind of intuit What Not To Do.]

It's real neat. Fits right in your pocket and everythin'?
kindaruledatit: (Default)

[personal profile] kindaruledatit 2017-06-18 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
[Well when you're a teen, and not a up-and-coming mechanic from the 70s, you look at technology a bit differently.]

Yup, it's even wireless. [Wendy he's not that old...] Takes pictures and records video and stuff too.
Edited 2017-06-18 02:50 (UTC)
terribibble: (he IS a little spectacle)

[personal profile] terribibble 2017-06-18 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
Really? How?

[Wendy. Wendy. Now is your chance to teach Old Man McGucket about selfies.]
kindaruledatit: (The Wendy Way)

[personal profile] kindaruledatit 2017-06-18 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
Dude. I can totally show you right now.

[And she'll start by snatching her phone back out of Fiddleford's hands, and moving riiight up beside him as she holds her phone out.]

Okay, so like, smile!

[Hope he's prepared for the sudden- flash!]
terribibble: (who hates evil i sure do)

[personal profile] terribibble 2017-06-18 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
Oh --

[He absolutely is not prepared. Please see icon for the beautiful, beautiful face he makes. Now it's immortalized for all time as a grainy jpg.]
kindaruledatit: (you know...)

[personal profile] kindaruledatit 2017-06-18 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
Perf-oooooh.

[YEAH that.

That sure is a face. Uh.
]

There, see? Looks great.
terribibble: (this nerd-ass lookin dude)

[personal profile] terribibble 2017-06-18 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
[It's beautiful. Majestic.]

That is real neat, I have to say. What's the storage capacity like?

[It has to put the pictures somewhere, right? Is there a floppy disc in there? Like, a little tiny one?]
kindaruledatit: (Okay....?)

[personal profile] kindaruledatit 2017-06-19 08:33 am (UTC)(link)
[It's like last years model, fidds. Please control your arousal.]

I dunno, like... ten gigs? Maybe a little more?

[she's not one to look up the specs.]
terribibble: (i like those little spectacles)

[personal profile] terribibble 2017-06-19 08:39 am (UTC)(link)
[He is going to marry this phone]

Gigs...?

[If this were Nick vs. CN and he were a Steven Universe character his eyes would be doing the thing. You know, the thing.]

Gigabytes?
kindaruledatit: (Oh wait what)

[personal profile] kindaruledatit 2017-06-19 08:42 am (UTC)(link)
[Look, buddy. Please don't make out with her phone, that's all she asks.

she's almost a bit nervous to answer his question.
]

...Yeah? How else are you gonna have pictures and videos and stuff on it?
terribibble: (thats a funny trick to play on god)

[personal profile] terribibble 2017-06-22 06:28 am (UTC)(link)
[He won't. Promise. That'd be very forward of him and all.]

Well of course, but... good lord, how much did that cost you? How'd they get it so small?
kindaruledatit: (The Wendy Way)

[personal profile] kindaruledatit 2017-06-23 09:15 am (UTC)(link)
Technology, man! Progress marches on, and all that.

And how much it cost? Well... [She turns it over in her hands a couple times, thinking.] Not... that much? It's not even this years model.
