This Used to Be the Life but I Don't Need Another One

[Well Ratigan couldn't care less about what happened, but he really didn't get his fill of partying from the bar and everyone simpering wasn't how he wanted it to go down. Soon after the trial little notes are slipped beneath each door.]

You are cordially invited to a mourning party in the lobby. RVSP ASAP.

[In the lobby Thalia will have moved some tables to the lobby and provide her choice dish of cheeseburgers along with a smattering of bread, fruits, and vegetables. Reyna will have brought along hot chocolate galore.

For those that aren't your thing? Well in honor of the recently departed there's pine tree shaped cookies (Thanks Thalia.) and triangle crackers with cheese (thanks...Ratigan?). And there's a helping of drinks if the bar wasn't enough for you wink wink. Ratigan has every intention of making this a party.]

All kind of stuff. Like rocket boots, a backpack assistant, these tiny spheres that trap whoever is hit by them...he's a genius, I dunno what I'd do without him.

[He exhales a laugh, short due to the strain of carrying the table. It's heavier than he thought.]

I know someone just like that. Rocket boots included. Also discovered cats and rocket boots don't mix, haha.

[Don't worry, Tadashi, won't be long before the table is in its place in front of the doors!]

No kidding! Did they put rocket boots to a cat? Why'd they do that?

[Oh good. Time to get some chairs, then.]

He did! His initial prototype was too small to be used by either him or me, so he figured he'd test it on our aunt's cat. It turns out the controls weren't programmed just right and as soon as he turned them on, they went out of control.

The cat wouldn't go near us for a week, plus we both got grounded.

That's brilliant, so brilliant! [Virgil laughs heartily, stacking a pair of chairs on each other to take them. He pities the cat for his bad experience, but it still makes him laugh] That kind of legendary shenanigans is what makes tech fun!

[Tadashi also pities said cat, but he still thinks it was funny, and the cat is alive and well today, so it all works out.]

Good to see someone else thinks so! By the way, out of curiosity...is the person you mentioned family or a friend?

He's my best friend. You'd like him, he's a smart guy.

[tadaishi]

I think so, if he's into building things like you've mentioned.

[Gonna wedge another chair into this barricade. It's looking pretty good.]

The funny thing is that for a while I was the smartest one between us two, but after a while he got his powers and started being much better than me at that kind of stuff. It's what he wanted, to help and have his powers, and he got them, he got supersmart.

[He sounds so proud of that friend -- and it's no surprise, Rich is a rather nice guy]

Is that his power, being super smart? Or just a side effect of gaining superpowers in general?

[Speaking of friends, Tadashi has one he wishes he could introduce Virgil. Well, all of them, really, but one in particular. Fred would love to meet actual superheroes.]
