MOCK TRIAL

"Alright, mooks, everybody make youse way down to the trial room, pronto!"

[There's certainly no trial room on the map. No trial soundstage, no trial room, where oh where could they be talking about. You might spend a long time looking for it, or only be thinking about it for a single second before it comes over you.

Whenever you close your ears, or even blink, you find yourself there.

The room is a cartoony laboratory, filled to the brims with scientific equipment and beakers beyond wondrous, almost impossible to imagine being utilized in any sort of actual scientific context. A large monitor is mounted on the ceiling, playing a single clip on repeat along with the words "IMAGINEER THINK TANK". There is a large stage underneath that television, which your two hosts take their places at quite readily.

A circle of metal podiums is set up on the ground floor, 26 in total. Each is marked with a name and a photograph of the individual who's supposed to take their place there, as well as a keyboard for inputting...something. The 26th podium is marked with a grayscale photograph of Gwenpool.

Your fellow participants appear in the room one-by-one, seeming to "digitize" out of nowhere. Once everyone has appeared in the room and taken their place, the air around them seems to go deathly still.

Mugsi holds a cigar between her lips, lighting it from a stick of dynamite lit by Kate. With Mugsi taking a deep inhale, Kate speaks, the dynamite somehow fizzling out.]

Each of you has a place you oughta be sitting, and your job is to solve the mystery that's been put before ya. Once you think you know who did it, input their name on the keyboard in front of you. Majority rules, participation is mandatory, and if ya vote wrong you're not gonna see the light of day ever again!

So, get on with it!

[Thor rolls his eye.]

Yes, the ducks. Should we compare their feathers to this one?
losingtoabird: (dont start singing you bastard creature)

[personal profile] losingtoabird 2017-12-09 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
You only need to compare it to one if you're askin' me...

Never in my life did I think it would be a duck.

[He just wants to put that out there.] Which duck?
losingtoabird: (lets cuck that bitch frollo)

So he was cooking the other day to give the illusion of being generous, then he picked his victim and lured them in with food.

But we don't think he worked alone?
losingtoabird: (hugo lord of hell)

[personal profile] losingtoabird 2017-12-09 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, there are two other ducks. Birds of a feather, and all...

I beg your pardon! I was in the Restaurant all morning yesterday, any one of my feathers from me own head could've flaked out. There's not a single leftover Scroogecake [trademarked Do Not Steal] anymore, they were all consumed. And rightfully so.
losingtoabird: (then perish.)

[personal profile] losingtoabird 2017-12-09 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Anyone can vouch for that?
bayoublues: (what)

[personal profile] bayoublues 2017-12-09 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
...I can. I ate...um, most of them.
windsintheeast: (coming in)

[personal profile] windsintheeast 2017-12-09 08:00 pm (UTC)(link)
While it would be remiss of us to ignore what seems like such plain evidence, we ought to consider other possibilities as well.

[Just. Butting in. She hates to consider that anyone here could be capable of such a terrible thing.]

I'm sure there's many situations in which a duck may lose feathers, and none have to do with murder in the slightest. The most we ought to believe right now is that we could potentially place them in that area as of last night-- and that alone does not a murderer make.

[personal profile] worldsaway 2017-12-09 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't believe it based on feathers alone, but that he was luring us all into the restaurant hours before the murder. Our killer can cook, he's demonstrated that much, and he wears red.

I am open to the possibility of these being false leads. I'm interested to hear your thoughts.
windsintheeast: (and 'bout)

[personal profile] windsintheeast 2017-12-09 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
It does all add up to be quite a bit fishy, doesn't it? But our hosts made it very clear that in order to leave, the murderer would have to get away with the crime. The evidence is far too obviously pointing towards Mr. McDuck-- and I have a very hard time believing he's truly that obtuse.

The culprit may have sought to leave a trail to point us in the wrong direction.

[personal profile] worldsaway 2017-12-09 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
That is a very real possibility, maybe we need to reasses.

[Thor thinks for a moment, buuuut he comes up blank.] I suppose we should consider who is clever enough to pull that off.
windsintheeast: (is brewin')

[personal profile] windsintheeast 2017-12-09 08:16 pm (UTC)(link)
We could start by considering who the false trail leads to. I'm uncertain as to whether or not anyone here dislikes Mr. McDuck enough to frame him for murder.

But on the other hand, it's just as likely they were simply indifferent enough towards him to not care whether or not he was suspected... in which case we don't have any sort of lead at all.
bayoublues: (Default)

[personal profile] bayoublues 2017-12-09 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Er, I was talkin' to Mr. McDuck when he was makin' pancakes and he said he ain't that great a cook...so I don't think he'd be able to make a fancy pastry like that with the intent to murder someone. If ya get my drift.
worldsaway: (bitch pls)

[personal profile] worldsaway 2017-12-09 08:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe someone used the fact that he was cooking as an opportunity to use it against him.

Who did we see at breakfast?
bayoublues: (hmmmmm)

[personal profile] bayoublues 2017-12-09 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Me, Hugo, the nanny, and Stan. At least, those I know of?

...or maybe they were just left over from the other day. We don't know.
