It's all fun and games until someone dies
[On Saturday afternoon, Wander tapes 23 identical letters on identical stationary. He would have folded them and slide them under the doors, but the entrance to Fiddleford's room was coated in salt and possibly other condiments that hadn't been cleaned, and ruining his letter in particular would send the wrong message.]
GAME NIGHT TONIGHT
Dear neighbor, you are cordially invited to the game room this evening for a get-to-know-everyone party. There will be games! Food! Drinks! Icebreakers! Games!
I hope that we can all find the time to work together and see each other as friends!
♥ Wander and Sylvia
[The game room is less dusty in the evening with the addition of several paper chains hanging on the walls and a table laid out with cards, safety pins, food (chips and dip, Wander's triple pickle cream pie, and a cheese platter), and two pitchers of peach lemonade. Each card has blanks spaces for the participants to fill out: name and favorite food.
There's board games and a spot on the floor for group party games. Wander sets up a game for Spin the Bottle, though everyone is free to set up any game they want.
Have fun and hopefully no one will get murdered!]

Hopefully if we get to know each other, no one will...
[It's almost like he realizes that that's incredibly naive. Or he just doesn't want to say murder.
He picks at the sleeve of his shirt.]
...If I'd've known it was a party, I'd've put my waistcoat back on.
no subject
[And god, does she hope. It's kept her up a few nights since the host's announcement of the whole... murder thing.]
If you don't want to return to your room, I could help with that.
no subject
[He was. Just about to go back to his room.]
no subject
I... I know it might be a bit much to ask you to trust me, but I promise what I'm about to do is harmless, okay?
no subject
Still, she hasn't given him a reason not to trust her. And the middle of a party probably wouldn't be the best place to try that murder rule.
So he nods.]
O-okay. What...should I do?
no subject
[Something small like this shouldn't worry anyone, right? So Elsa will just... wave her hand. In a flurry of snowflakes, a nice, dark blue waistcoat materializes right on Lefou! It's not overly fancy, but it does have a nice white-gold trim to it, and despite coming from her icy magic, it looks and feels like any sort of regular cloth would.]
I hope this is okay...!
no subject
oh cool
cool cool
this is fine
But when the snow manifests into...an actual waistcoat, made of real cloth and everything, he's too distracted by touching it, expecting it to be cold or brittle, to react like he probably should.
...Eh, he's an abomination of nature too, according to plenty.]
How- how did you do that?
no subject
Magic.
[The simple answer to everything unexplained apparently, but there you go.]
I was born with the ability to create ice and snow. I'm not sure how exactly the clothes I make become real clothes, though...
no subject
Well, as long as you can't turn people into clothes, it's not that scary, right?
[HEY REMEMBER THAT CONVERSATION ABOUT THE ANGRY FURNITURE
He smiles and tugs down the vest to admire the ornate embroidery.]
It looks amazing. Very modern, very avant-garde.
[He'll even do a turn in his fancy waistcoat to try to make her laugh.]
What do you think? Normally I'm a gold and red kind of guy, but maybe it's time for a new look.
no subject
So instead, when he spins, she'll clap! Seeing how much he enjoys it makes her beam, and it's one more thing to help shoo off that cloud hanging over all of them.]
I may be a bit biased, but I think it looks good on you! Such dark colors make you look a bit serious, don't they? Lighter colors suit you more, I think.
no subject
Lefou takes her expression as a personal victory and smiles in kind.]
Mm, it's true, I'm not really smart enough to be serious all the time.
[He scratches at his mustache idly. Man, he really wishes he could find a razor.]
But still, I think I'll have to give blue a try more often. Thank you for making this for me.
no subject
[He seems like a kind enough guy. Way too nice to be stoic all the time.]
Of course! If you'd like anything else, please, let me know. [She rubs her hands together, a sort of idle tic that she's had for a long time now.] It's... it's good, using my magic to be able to help people. I want to be able to do that even here.
no subject
[GET IT. CAUSE HIS NAME IS-]
I'll definitely keep it in mind. I don't want to take advantage of your magic... But I think it's strange, but it can definitely help people.
no subject
[He's been nothing but kind since they all woke up here! Not as outgoing as Wander, sure, but she's enjoyed talking to him.]
I... don't know if it would be wise to use my magic now, after... everything... [She may have more confidence in herself, but she's still not entirely stable inside, and it's more just a precaution than a fear of what people will do when they see her magic.] But if you have any ideas, I'd be happy to go along with them. Back home, in Arendelle... I would do a lot of things with my magic, just to please my people.
[Partly to make them happy, and partly to show that she's not a danger. That she's not a witch or a monster.]
no subject
He doesn't know what to do with her kindness, so he moves on.]
I'll let you know if I think of something.
...Where's Arendelle?
[By now he's accepted that no one else is from France, even though some people have heard of it.]
no subject
It's a quiet little kingdom far north. Not enough that it's cold all year round, our springs and summers are pleasant enough... but it's still far enough that you can see the northern lights all year round. It's one of the best parts of living there.
no subject
I definitely understand quiet... Villeneuve is a small village that really just does the same routine.
I've never been far north before. I've never really been... anywhere, except for my village, and the army.
no subject
[She told him about Arendelle, so it's only fair!!]
no subject
[He decides to leave out the part about the village being so insular that they ran a girl out of town for knowing how to read.]
There's forests all around with all kinds of wild game and vegetables... I've never been a good hunter, so the best I caught was... carrots.
["You didn't do so bad yourself, LeFou." It was embarrassing how much he took that praise as gospel, how he clung to the tiniest scraps of affection and begged for more.]
But during the day... It's like nobody stops moving. The baker's shop smells like fresh bread and pastry all day long, the women do their washing in the well, the boys are all in the school house, and the square is full of people. And as soon as night falls, the tavern comes to life with tired people from all around the village, ready to drink and laugh and sing until the small hours of the morning, before they go home and wake up at dawn the next day to do it all over again.
