ENDGAME GROUP 1: The Other Box (Log 2)
[Off-screen, the groups manage to reunite themselves once more. More notable than anything else is the little black floating box, though if any of you have any information you wish to exchange, now would be an excellent time to do so.]
I know this isn’t exactly on the docket, but I intend on heading in there. You’re welcome to join if you’d like.
(ooc: this is the second and final log for group 1 - if you weren’t here for the previous log, feel free to use this as a jumping-in point!)

"You're no hero, Gaston, you're just a lying, manipulative jerk!"
"He doesn't need anyone to defend him, but he sure as hell deserves it!"
"But how can I be a hero if I've already died saving someone like Lefou?"
"They'd know that you were a guy that was nice enough to die in the place of his best friend."
And suddenly Gaston knows what he has to do. ]
No!
[ The blast rips through the air, but it never reaches Lefou. Because Gaston is there instead, charging across the room, pushing aside anyone and anything in his way, and throwing himself in the path of Syndrome's attack. ]
Not Lefou!

Everybody's free now, and Cruella calls out as Syndrome charges up the weapon again.]
STOP THEM NOW!

[Wander has no time to adjust his hat as he rushes over to where Gaston is laying. How bad does he look?]

but either way! you have cruella on the ground now, and she attempts to claw at marnie.]
Get off of me, you wretched little...!

[You got this Marnie.]

[She's cut off by the force of being decked in the face, directly against the floor.]

[He says as he points his gauntlet directly at Wendy's face. Might wanna stop that.]

He immediately races to climb up Syndrome and try to fuck up his concentration by getting to his face.]

[Syndrome tries to swat Jiminy away, but it ends with him kind of blasting the opposite wall instead of Wendy's face.]

Any more sounds from behind it? ]

But he hears Gaston yell.
And the pain never comes.
He opens his eyes just in time to see his old captain take the full force of the blast meant for him, and the scream rips out of him before he can stop it.]
NO!
[He'd been glad that Gaston had made it through his whole ritual without killing anyone. That he'd only really been truly tacky about the Prince after he died at someone else's hand. Gaston was improving, in short, incremental steps, he was actually turning around from the homicidal maniac that LeFou had last seen. The maniac who he'd been taunted with a potential vision of, in his ritual.
Gaston, LeFou had thought, could go home, find a new village. Be their provider. Maybe even their hero.
While nearly everyone else goes for the door, LeFou scrambles to Gaston, catching him and lowering him carefully to the floor, heedless of the fact that there might well be another blast coming hot on the heels of that one.]
Gaston! Gaston, you're- you're gonna be okay, it's okay.

He looks up, with dazed, glassy eyes, and coughs. There's a trail of blood running down the corner of his mouth, and his arm hangs at an unnatural angle at his side. Still, he does his best to give Lefou his classic, dashing hero's smirk. ]
Le Duo...rides...again?
[ It's a struggle just to get the words out. ]
no subject
A small, pained sob comes out of him.]
Just this once... For old time's sake, right?
[He manages a teary smile, brushes Gaston's hair back off of his face.]
You'll - you'll be okay. We're in the Underworld, you can't die here. You'll be good as new in no time...
no subject
Already, his vision's growing dark at the edges. He can't even feel Lefou's hands on his chest, only the pain in his spine and his shoulder.
With a great effort, he manages to shake his head, and then clumsily reaches out with his good (well, not as bad) hand to grasp Lefou's. His own hand is shaking, just a little. ]
...Sorry, old friend.
It's hero time.
[ His head falls back, and his eyes glaze over, staring unseeing up at the ceiling.
Gaston is dead. ]
