WEEK 5
[Wander and Sylvia are dead, the Ghost Host was snuffed out like a light, and Tarzan is nowhere to be seen. It seems like in an instant everything is changed, not just the circumstances, but the mansion itself. It feels like it's gotten significantly colder in the mansion, and you might also start seeing bugs out of the corner of you eyes, darting away into darkness the moment you try to focus on them.
And, starting this week, any and all ghosts are eerily absent but at the same time, no matter where you go, you feel like you're being watched by something. To make matters worse, the attic doors have been nailed open.
But there are some bright spots in this week. When you wake up on Sunday, you'll find that you have a brand new tuxedo hanging up on your bedroom door, in your exact size. Later, if you're curious enough to try going from the second floor to the attic, you'll find that there's a whole new floor to explore, but this time it's just comprised of two rooms: a smallish but serviceable laundry room and an expansive casino with an attached bar.
Don't tell Jiminy about this he will have a heart attack.
Feel free to explore, but maybe you want to keep away from the Stretching Room for awhile. Somebody cut the noose on the hanging corpse.
17 guests remain.]

[This time, when Maui touched her shoulders, he did so with both hands. Both his voice and his touch were firm, but certainly not too harsh. He wanted her to feel confident in his words, not be terrified by him.]
You? You aren't a mistake. Because if you are, that means I am too. And people keep telling me I'm not, so... yeah.
no subject
You're definitely not a mistake! You've... been so brave and nice. And accepting.
[ She takes a breath. ]
I'm sorry. For upsetting you.
no subject
I'm glad you told me. But like I said, it doesn't change anything. You're still the bright, happy girl that I want to keep safe.
[He took a deep breath, then exhaled slowly.]
Right. My turn.

[ She's still stunned beyond belief, but... she straightens up a little. How in the world did she get to this point? How does she deserve such kindness? ]
Okay. At your own pace. [ She smiles a little. ] I'm not going anywhere, after all.

I did something pretty bad, Namine. Like... really pretty bad. I stole something, it was called the heart of Te Fiti, and it was the source of all life. I thought I could give it to the humans as a gift but instead...
I think I'm killing the world.
no subject
I see...
[ She thinks for a moment, then nods. ]
It does sound bad. [ There's that brutal honesty. ] But you did it because... you wanted to do something nice for the humans of your world?
no subject
I... was abandoned when I was young. I've always liked feeling needed, because of that. So I didn't do it because it was the right thing to do. I did it because I thought it would make me feel good.
no subject
Maui, do... you regret it? Taking the heart.
[ It sounds like it. But she wants to hear it from him, to make sure. ]
no subject
Sure. But... I don't know that that makes me a good person again. It's... all about reasons, right? Why someone does something, why they feel bad about it.
I don't know that I have a good reason for regretting it.
no subject
[ And she says it honestly. ]
But I think it says something, if you regret it or you know how wrong it was. Even if you don't really have a reason.
[ For only a second, she hesitates. It seems like this is turning out to be a truth-telling session. ]
I manipulated someone's memories--someone who had done nothing to me, who had done nothing but good things--because I wanted a friend. I made him forget someone important to him, because I was so terribly lonely and I couldn't stand it. But... I know now how terrible it was.
I did a bad thing, Maui, but... I don't think it defines who I am. So... I think the same could be said for you.

[Maybe he should have been less concerned with her ability, and more with how she had used it. But he'd been with Namine for five weeks now, and while plenty of people had shown the ability to be malicious, Maui still didn't think the girl was the type.
If nothing else, he knew she wouldn't hurt him. No sense in getting up in arms about what she said. Not at the omment, at least.]

My powers work in a very specific way. They affect only those who are connected to a certain person.
