WEEK 5

[Wander and Sylvia are dead, the Ghost Host was snuffed out like a light, and Tarzan is nowhere to be seen. It seems like in an instant everything is changed, not just the circumstances, but the mansion itself. It feels like it's gotten significantly colder in the mansion, and you might also start seeing bugs out of the corner of you eyes, darting away into darkness the moment you try to focus on them.

And, starting this week, any and all ghosts are eerily absent but at the same time, no matter where you go, you feel like you're being watched by something. To make matters worse, the attic doors have been nailed open.

But there are some bright spots in this week. When you wake up on Sunday, you'll find that you have a brand new tuxedo hanging up on your bedroom door, in your exact size. Later, if you're curious enough to try going from the second floor to the attic, you'll find that there's a whole new floor to explore, but this time it's just comprised of two rooms: a smallish but serviceable laundry room and an expansive casino with an attached bar.

Don't tell Jiminy about this he will have a heart attack.

Feel free to explore, but maybe you want to keep away from the Stretching Room for awhile. Somebody cut the noose on the hanging corpse.

17 guests remain.]

[Clearly trying to get the attic ghost on their side was a no-go but, hey, someone had to try. Either way, Anna is here. She... stays in the corner a bit, clinging to the old diary she recieved from Maui.]

...So no one's really safe now, are they?
terribibble: (a virtual dairy queen)

[personal profile] terribibble 2017-07-14 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
[He's not an asshole so he's not going to say 'nobody was ever safe to begin with' but the thought does cross his mind. No. That would be too much for any of them to hear right now.]

Well... well no. Maybe not really. But we're not alone, right?

[He wishes he could muster up a more reassuring tone of voice. He's trying. It's like he said to Elsa, he already got all of his moping done for this week and now he needs to do something. It's just... needing to do it doesn't make it any easier.]

And that ought to count for somethin'.

[personal profile] outsidethecircle 2017-07-14 04:34 am (UTC)(link)
[Thank you, Fidds.

She swallows slightly.]

Right... we can watch either other's backs. It shouldn't have to end badly.
terribibble: (facial balance?)

[personal profile] terribibble 2017-07-14 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
[Well. He was thinking more like 'we'll all go together when we go' but, yeah, what she said is probably a nicer sentiment.]

Exactly. Watch each others' backs, keep each other grounded. If we're lookin' out for each other then... then what happened today doesn't have to happen again.

[They can remind each other. Don't step on bugs. Don't go in the attic. Don't try and damage the walls. Be careful, be cautious, stay alive.]

[personal profile] outsidethecircle 2017-07-14 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
[Don't ever learn that Anna tried to get the axe ghost out of the attic. What? Bugs don't stand a chance against a ghost! If they're not posessing someone. And hey, Oogie probably has a lot of cash.]

Not until we find a way to get bug spray.

[Anna, no.]

After we find a way out, I mean.
terribibble: (they tried to make a good head)

[personal profile] terribibble 2017-07-14 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
[Yikes.]

... Right. Though I think bein' honest once we do make it out I'm goin' to get as far from here as possible and not look back, with or without bug spray.
outsidethecircle: (No you)

[personal profile] outsidethecircle 2017-07-14 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
[Hey. Kids don't have the strongest instincts.]

I kind of agree but... that guy gives me the creeps more than the host did. At least he was polite.
terribibble: (why do most people quit?)

[personal profile] terribibble 2017-07-14 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
I can agree with you there.

[You really don't know what you've got until it's gone, huh?]

I'm awful glad I was able to apologize to him before he... before what happened. For bein' so rude to him a couple weeks back.
outsidethecircle: (No you)

[personal profile] outsidethecircle 2017-07-14 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
I... once asked him for a watermelon and he gave it to me even if he thought it was weird.
terribibble: (ding dang lean cuisine)

[personal profile] terribibble 2017-07-15 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
Why a watermelon of all things?

[Sorry, he thinks it's a little weird too, but only because if you were going to ask a ghost for anything why would it be that?]
outsidethecircle: (Omg)

[personal profile] outsidethecircle 2017-07-15 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
We didn't have one.

[She's not going to say anything about Mulan but--]

It's a rare treat in Japan in the summer. It was summer last time I remember so I thought it would be nice.

[She left it in the kitchen.]
terribibble: (a virtual dairy queen)

[personal profile] terribibble 2017-07-15 07:37 am (UTC)(link)
[Oh. Well that... that makes sense, especially for someone her age. God, she's so young. Too many of the people stuck here are so young, too young.]

Well that's... that's not a bad thought actually. Anythin' nice here is worth somethin'.
outsidethecircle: (So I'll just stay right here)

[personal profile] outsidethecircle 2017-07-16 05:56 am (UTC)(link)
[Whoever took them really wanted to punish the youth, it seemed.]

You think so? I just wanted to make sure we had something nice.
terribibble: (a virtual dairy queen)

[personal profile] terribibble 2017-07-18 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
I do think so! I think in situations like this every little bit helps.
outsidethecircle: (So I'll just stay right here)

[personal profile] outsidethecircle 2017-07-18 08:00 am (UTC)(link)
I think so, too. I think we need to do more things like that. I think this place must be in the summer, too, since wasn't the ball about a summer holiday?
terribibble: (this is how i took my SATs)

[personal profile] terribibble 2017-07-20 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Must be. If that was July fourth then it's mid-July now, here.

[Which is just... weird. Unsettling, when it wasn't mid-July where he was last and he already has a hard enough time keeping dates straight. But comparatively a little timeline fucker is something he can't even be concerned with anymore.]

Hard to tell time reliably when outside's always night.
outsidethecircle: (Uuum)

[personal profile] outsidethecircle 2017-07-21 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
That sounds about right to the time I was taken, too.

[Ugh. All this is unsettling.]

So at least we should treat it like summer.

amadeusrockette: (whatever's broke i can make it unbroken)

[personal profile] amadeusrockette 2017-07-14 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
. . . No. [She can't even bring herself to lie.] I think the best thing we can do right now is just. Live in the moment.
outsidethecircle: (Uuum)

[personal profile] outsidethecircle 2017-07-14 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
Until we get out?
amadeusrockette: (no more hiding who i wanna be)

[personal profile] amadeusrockette 2017-07-14 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
Until we get out. [She offers Anna a slice of her cake.] Do you want some? It's. We eat cake in Germany after a funeral, while we talk and mourn.
outsidethecircle: (Uuum)

[personal profile] outsidethecircle 2017-07-14 04:51 am (UTC)(link)
That's... [Kind of weird? But also...] I guess it wouldn't hurt. [She takes it.] Thanks.

[Even if she's not hungry. To think one of the kids like herself went out like that.]
amadeusrockette: (with a bottle of wine in one hand)

[personal profile] amadeusrockette 2017-07-18 07:43 am (UTC)(link)
Oh! I almost forgot. [She pats down her pockets before pulling the inhaler she got from the machine out of her jacket pocket.] Here. I think this is yours?
outsidethecircle: (Omg)

[personal profile] outsidethecircle 2017-07-18 07:56 am (UTC)(link)
That's... [Yes, yes it is hers! She takes it. She knows it because, well, she usually doesn't have it and everyone yells at her about it.] You remembered I had asthma?
amadeusrockette: (this is real)

[personal profile] amadeusrockette 2017-07-20 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
I remembered you were having trouble with all the dust when we first arrived so when I got this out of the machine I thought that it might be yours. [She's glad she didn't have to show it to a bunch of people.] I was going to try and give it to Mr. Pines if I was wrong.
outsidethecircle: (I'm really okay)

[personal profile] outsidethecircle 2017-07-21 04:49 am (UTC)(link)
T-thanks. I really appreciate it. It's not so bad now since we've dusted but it should come in handy. [She puts it in her pocket.] That probably would have been another safe bet.
