[Another week has come and gone, and three more people are dead. Nearly half of the guests are dead in a little over a month. The ghosts are still not reacting, and with Demyx's execution one has to wonder if the ghosts are even here anymore.

In the very least one more floor has been opened up: the trophy room, a shooting gallery, and a bathing room.

... Maybe keep Kiara out of the trophy room.

Aha! [Pretty soon, he's plopping down a big old scoop of frosty-color vanilla ice cream atop Naminé's pancakes.]

Vanilla, dear. Simple and sweet. Goes with just about anything!

Oh, I'm used to sea salt ice cream.

[ She tries a little bit of it, and she looks absolutely delighted. ]

It's good! It does remind me of sea salt ice cream, but... without the salt.

...Huh. That's a new one in my book.

[It does sound delicious, though. He gives her a grin.]

Glad you like it. Maybe when we get out of here, you can find me some sea salt ice cream to try. How's that sound?

I'd like that a lot. Twilight Town doesn't have much by way of weirdness, but... it's a wonderful place. And everyone there loves sea salt ice cream.

I spent a lot of time there, when I worked on repairing Sora's memories.

Well, even if it's not weird, I'd still like to see it. It sounds very nice. And I'm getting old, you know. It'd be good to have a little vacation from all this excitement.

[He's pretty sure Murder Mansion will hold him over on the adventure front for a few months at least.]

[ She nods, laughing softly. Don't they all need a vacation. ]

Mm, well... I think Twilight Town has seen enough excitement, too. So you both have that in common.

We're an excellent match, it seems. [Ford takes a big spoonful of ice cream out of the container and sticks it in his mouth before putting the tub back in the icebox.]

Then it's settled. When we get out of this place, we'll stop back in Twilight Town, eat some ice cream, have a good relaxing time there, and then you and I are going to go catch some monsters.

[ Her grandpa is so scandalous. ]

I like that plan. [ She eats a little more of her ice cream and pancakes. ] What sorts of monsters do you think we'll find first?

Hmmm. [Ford considers that, scratching his chin thoughtfully.] I'd love to find another plaidypus. I think it'd be fun for you to meet one. They're very gentle and unusual creatures!

[chainbroke]

A platypus?

[ What's so special about a platypus? ]

Oh! Heh, no, no, not a normal platypus. A plaidypus. Completely different.

[chainbroke]

Oh, I see! [ She accepts it so easily, look at her. ] What else are they like?

[Bless her, honestly. Not an iota of doubt.]

Well, they're very warm and cuddly, and they smell like bacon and maple syrup. And their coats are made of the softest flannel, which makes them highly sought after by lumberjacks!

[chainbroke]

They sound wonderful. Do they... I hope they don't get hurt.

[ It's too sad to think about. ]

They are! [He pauses, and shakes his head.] No, not very often, anyway. They're incredibly rare and reclusive, so it's not often they're actually hunted successfully.
