[Another week has come and gone, and three more people are dead. Nearly half of the guests are dead in a little over a month. The ghosts are still not reacting, and with Demyx's execution one has to wonder if the ghosts are even here anymore.

In the very least one more floor has been opened up: the trophy room, a shooting gallery, and a bathing room.

... Maybe keep Kiara out of the trophy room.

I can imagine. The older I get, the more quickly time passes. But part of me is very thankful the human lifespan is so short. It makes it very difficult for me to be bored.

[As Ford continued talking, though, the demi-god's smile began to fade. All this talk of short lifespans reminded him of something rather uncomfortable. He glanced down, to the side, as if he might be able to see through walls to where Lefou was. It didn't matter now, when their lives were liable to end within days, but if they made it out...]

Isn't there any way for you people to live longer? Like I said... seventy years is like a blink...

[Oh, no. No, he can guess exactly why Maui's face is falling like that, and the demigod's question only confirms it. Ford's smile fades into an expression that's quite serious, and more than a little melancholy.]

Not really. Nothing that equates to a natural, happy life. Unfortunately, we humans aren't great at accepting our own mortality, and many have tried to find ways around it. They rarely work and almost always have unintended consequences.

Yeah, guess I should have known better than to hope. [Maui kicked at the ground beneath his toes. He'd always thought that his time was both simpler and better, and now only seemed to further that fact. At least he could search for a fountain of youth or redeem Lefou's soul from the underworld, if anything happened.]

That, uh... It really sucks, old man.

I know. I know it does.

[His voice gets a little quieter, a little gentler.]

You can still show him many wonderful years that will feel like a very long time to him.
