[You've all been here for well over a month and it's getting harder and harder to keep spirits up. There has been small hope thanks to a mysterious person talking to you through your dreams. A small hope that maybe you'll be able to escape and get your friends back, but you'll have to escape first.

There are no new floors to explore, the outside area remains the same as it's always been. Might as well get comfy here.

Lefou. It's not...supposed to hurt. It's supposed to feel good for everyone involved.

It...wasn't the worst. But I didn't get anything out of it other than not being able to ride my horse the next day.

[Gaston is lucky he's dead, or Ford would give him a damn sound pummeling.]

'Wasn't the worst' isn't exactly a glowing commendation. Done properly, it might be a tad uncomfortable, yes, but it really shouldn't leave you unable to sit your horse. Good God.

[Yeah, well, they didn't have the term "two pump chump" in the 1700s, but...]

In all fairness, my horse is a kind of a jerk.

[He turns the jar over in his hands, looking at it with trepidation.]

Jerk or no, it's the honest truth.

[He gives Lefou's shoulder a little pat.]

I'm not saying you have to use it. Just...if you do end up trying it again, keep it in mind, okay? I say this as someone who's done this countless times in my day. You can trust me on this matter.

[Lefou taps the jar against his palm a couple times like he's using the sound to convince himself, and then smiles up at Ford.]

[Ford chuckles, looking a little more at ease now that he knows he hasn't completely botched this.]

Someone's got to look out for you kids.

[Yes, he's calling Maui a kid, even though he is literally ancient. It's fine.]

[Softly, but with a hesitant amount of feeling:]

You know, I wish I'd had someone like you to look up to when I was younger.

[Maybe he wouldn't have ended up following Gaston nearly to the point of no return.]

[Well, if that doesn't just melt Ford's heart, nothing will.

Lefou's shoulder gets a squeeze, and then his hand drops.]

Well, the good news is, you're still very young. You've got a whole life ahead of you.

We've survived this long, right?

Precisely. And I have every intention of getting the rest of us out of here safely. Along with all our fallen friends.

[He's still not sure how much he believes in this "gonna go punch some Hades guy in the face to get their friends back" plan. Even if it freed their spirits their bodies were...

But he doesn't say that out loud. If anyone could do it, it would be Ford.]

That's why you're our captain.

[Ford blinks in surprise.]

I'm–I'm not, really.

[Is he secretly pleased, though? Absolutely.]

[Ford's expression goes soft and fond, and he nods.]

That's just fine by me.

[Lefou's own expression is sweet and earnest.]

Then I can think of no captain I'd be a happier batman for.

[Ford are you a big enough history nerd to know what a batman is]

[No, that definitely has different implications for someone who discovered he was gay in the mid-60s. He squints, visions of Adam West dancing in his head.]

...Batman?

[He blinks.]

It's- a soldier who's job it is to assist his unit's officer. Carry his kit, relay messages, take care of his horse and weapons...

Ah. The word means...something entirely different in my time.

[He laughs, and gives Lefou a wink.]

But I'm honored. Really.

Lefou reaches up to squeeze Ford's shoulder in solidarity. What would they have done without this man?]
