[Now that we've got that out of the way, it seems the participants are free to explore the manor at their leisure. The entire first floor is available to them at all times, and any attempts to maneuver outside or to a different floor will prove useless. Seems you're going to get very familiar with this area over the next week or so.

There may be something there that wasn't there before, namely, a set of rules posted next to the bios. Take heed of them, mortals. If you wish to have a private conversation with your Host, it's now entirely possible.

With all that in mind, exploring sounds like a good idea. Proceed with caution, mortals. There are no safety bars to be lowered here.]

[Well that's disappointing. Wander looks crestfallen for a moment, mourning the loss of a wonderful device that someone must have spent years building.

But that's in the past.] Well, I bet it and its inventor had a good run while it lasted.

Well, that was me, actually. And it wasn't quite what I imagined...but I certainly learned quite a lot.

Oh! [This is. This is great.] Congratulations Mr. Stan. You really are a genius. I'm sorry about what happened to your machine.

Please, uh, call me Ford. And it's really all right. It was incredibly dangerous. It was necessary to destroy it.

Whoops, silly me! [He slaps himself on the forehead and grins.] Mr. Ford, I do hope you find what you're lookin' for. You seem like the type of guy who'd get us outta here in no time!

I'm certainly trying. Mainly what I'm looking for are the materials to ignite a fire. I'm hoping to find some kerosene around here somewhere...

[...Wander is considering that.] Feels kind of rude to burn down someone's house, doesn't it?

I'm not trying to burn it down. I'm just trying to burn a hole through the wall to the outside and get us all out of here.

That's still burnin' part of their house. I mean, I guess you'd have to break it if you wanna make your own escape, but they haven't dont anythin' to us yet.

Besides kidnapping us and threatening us with bodily harm.

[Ford's pretty sure that warrants a little property damage.]

Well, maybe they won't go through it if we give them a gift.

[He opens the top drawer, stands on his toes, and rifles through it.]

A...gift?

[Ford's brows furrow.] What...kind of gift were you planning on giving them?

A fruit basket, obviously. First I need to find a basket to put the fruit in, maybe some ribbon, before I can even start the arrangement.

[No basket or basket materials in this drawer. Sigh.]

I could take time to do basket-weavin', but we don't even have that. Guess I'll have to think outside the box for this one.

A—fruit basket. That's...a very nice thought, but ghosts can't actually eat fruit, you know.

[folkscallmewander]

I mean. They can touch solid stuff like beds, so why not baskets?

[Oh wait. His shoulders droop.]

Oh no, you're right. What if I do offend him by sendin' fruit? Would he fall into despair, reminded that he can never enjoy the simple pleasures of life? What if he never wants to talk to me again after that faux pas?

[He grips the fabric of Ford's pants.] Thank you, Dr. Ford, for stoppin' me from makin' an awful mistake.

[Ford almost feels bad, look how upset this poor little guy is.

Gingerly, he pats Wander atop his hat. Please let go of his pant leg.]

No worries, my friend. And please, you can just call me Ford.

[folkscallmewander]

[He's not letting go, but he appreciates the head pat.]

Guess that means I have to think of somethin' else. No biggie. [He stands up straight and smiles. See, you feel better when you have a positive attitude.] I'll just have to come up with somethin' more creative! That's gonna be much more personalized than just another fruit basket.

[Why does nobody here have any concept of personal space?]

I hope you're able to find something more suitable. Do you draw? You could always make a rather fetching portrait.

Not just draw, but I sew, and paint birdhouses, and glue paper, and add sequins, pretty much anythin' you ask!

...I mean, if I had my supplies with me, I could.

Goodness, you're quite the talent.

[Ford makes a broad gesture with his hands.]

Well, it isn't quite the same, but we all have a notebook and something to write with, don't we? And I'm sure you could find something in the way of crayons or markers lying around this old place.

[folkscallmewander]

I could do some papercraft, but the notebook paper isn't the sturdiest. And it's not the nicest stationary so--

[He freezes.]

Ding!

Stationary! I saw some in the study! They gotta be good enough to fold!

[Ford's grin is amused and a little relieved.]
