[Now that we've got that out of the way, it seems the participants are free to explore the manor at their leisure. The entire first floor is available to them at all times, and any attempts to maneuver outside or to a different floor will prove useless. Seems you're going to get very familiar with this area over the next week or so.

There may be something there that wasn't there before, namely, a set of rules posted next to the bios. Take heed of them, mortals. If you wish to have a private conversation with your Host, it's now entirely possible.

With all that in mind, exploring sounds like a good idea. Proceed with caution, mortals. There are no safety bars to be lowered here.]

It's... the same, for two of the others who were with me in Castle Oblivion. They wanted nothing but to control someone for their own gain.

Gaston was never like that - he was the town hero, everybody loved him. But he couldn't handle not getting what he wanted.

Was he... like that, when you were children?

No, it's okay. He was... I guess he was kind of like that when we were kids. Just one of those guys, you know, loves being the center of attention. It was fine then, you know, just troublemaking boy stuff.

But... when he grew older, it became worse?

When he was promoted to Captain, he promoted me to be his ordonnance - that's... like the Captain's servant, basically. I cleaned his weapons, carried messages for him, everything he asked me to do. And he looked out for me. Just like when we were kids.

But it... did it stay like that for long? Him looking out for you?

Oh, yeah. Without him, I was... Well, I would've been nothing. Maybe less than nothing.

He was more...temperamental, after the war, but I was still his second. I should've seen it sooner, I should have...

[By now, he can't meet her eyes.]

I... when you're in a situation like that... I think it's difficult to see it. Fear, especially, is... hard to see, when you're in a place constantly surrounded by it.

Or you get used to the certain way a person acts, and nothing seems... strange, or wrong.

[ She hesitates. She almost doesn't tell him, but... honestly, she feels like she can trust him. Confide in him. He did for her, after all. ]

My profile... it didn't mention everything that happened in the castle. There were two N-- people who were tasked with keeping an eye on me. They weren't very kind. To them, and the group of others they worked with, I was nothing more than a tool. A means to an end.

I didn't realize at the time that their treatment of me... it wasn't normal. I was scared the whole time, but I didn't think too much of it. I... believed I deserved it.
