Week 3

[Well, someone took the bait last week, and now two people (if either of them could really be called a person) are dead. Not only that, it seems like your first host is now out of commission and replaced by someone who claims to be The Phantom. While he may not be incredibly worse than Facilier yet, it would be a stretch to say he's an improvement.

But, things aren't all bad! When the guests wake up on Sunday, they will find the stairs in the foyer are now open, leading to a whole new floor to explore!

And there's booze so no one will have to drink vinegar anymore.

[He waves at Marco as he approaches, and bleats...something inchoerent but points at him.]

Aa-aa-aa!

[He's going to skip to that part of the song.

Who is the boy in the earthly attire? / The prince of the princess's deepest desire / I don't need to show it, I think we all know it / But just to be certain, I'll say it again]

[Marco tilts his head a little bit when he's pointed at, but once the piano starts up, that tune that plays over and over in Marco's head when insomnia is at it's best, it has him freeze up almost immediately.

...and in what is the stupid decision ever, he runs over and jumps onto the keys, proclaiming a loud THWANG! as almost all of them are pressed at once with his stomach and he gracefully bounces off of them, and lands on the floor next to Lekmet.]

That's... th-that's enough music for one day, don't you think?

[The teen says this through a wheeze as he holds his sore stomach and regrets existing right now.]

[Now Lekmet's just being an ass with a laughing fit, messing with the poor kid with Song Day.]

Haa!!

[Okay, okay he's had his fun for the time being- He's gonna help Marco up with an 'Are You Okay?' expression.]

[Marco groans a little as he takes Lekmet's hoof and gets up to his feet, and he brushes himself off with a slightly upset look to his expression.]

I'm fine, everything's fine. Just, y'know... no, it's fine forget it.

[He feels terrible now that he's been teased and laughed at but it's Fine.]

There's more important stuff to worry about than some dumb r-ro...romance... stuff. Whatever.

[He tilts his head with a questioning but gentle look. 'Do you want to talk about it?' he writes down.

There's no way he can misinterpret thi- 'I'm no romance expert, but I'll try my best.' ]

Mmm.

[Marco stares at his writing with a little hum of uncertainty, before he lets out a sigh.]

It's just--

[He moves to take a seat next to Lekmet on the piano bench, facing away from the piano itself and he stares at the floor in front of him.]

I feel like I messed up. Like.... I dunno... I really took her for granted, and... lost something special.

[silly marco youre talking like she DIED or something]

['It's not like she's gone forever, though right? I'm sure it'll work out in the end.'

He thinks for a bit, trying to remember High Commission meetings with Moon Butterfly. Back when things were calmer he heard about that Lucitor kid or so, on and off.

'Hey, before you know it, she's going to come here, break us out, and things'll be back to normal like they used to. Maybe even better than normal.'

He gives Marco a reassuring light pat on the shoulder and offers a hopeful smile.]

[That... only reassures Marco for a second. Of course Star's going to come rescue them -- as soon as she figures out where they were, she'd bust them out easy. Everything would go back to normal.. well, at least for Marco. He'd go back to hanging out with Star in the castle, and being her very best friend.

But. Well. It kind of hurts, anyway. And he's been trying to ignore it as long as he can but now that the gate's open it just all ends up tumbling out to this old, dead goat who couldn't tell Star any of this anyway.]

They can't. Even if I... e-even though Jackie and I broke up it's too late for me. She's dating Tom.

[Marco reaches up to cover his face in his hands, his cheeks hot from embarrassment for admitting any of this and frustration, sadness at the situation.]

She's always been there and it took me too long to even realize it. And now we're just...

[There's a long pause, before Marco turns around suddenly, his eyes wet and he moves to press his hands on the keys as he sings... both pretty off key. Atrociously so.]

Just friends.

[He gives the kid another reassuring pat. Ah, young love.

'Sometimes things just happen.' wow wise words lekmet good job. 'You kids are still pretty young and have a lot to look forward to.

Who knows, you both will still have a chance.'

His mind drifts to Rhombulus and how the goatman's the only mortal one out of the MHC. Being old and nearing the last of his healing abilities made it unlikely for him to make it out of there-- No, no, think positive!

There's a lot more Lekmet could say where writing isn't enough. Glossaryck should've given him some telepathic abilities.

'As long as you both breathe it'll be Fine, Marco.']

[Marco stares at the notebook for a minute or two, tears trickling down his cheeks. He knows it'll be okay in the end -- they're still best friends and nothing has changed between the two of them, really. But it still hurts to think about. The fact that it took him breaking up with the girl of his dreams and watching Star date someone else to realize how much he really cared about her. But.. well. Lekmet's right. They're still alive, despite this crazy murder situation going on and that's what's really important isn't it?

He can't imagine what it'd be like if Star had to go through something like this with them.. no, he refuses to think about it. She's safe in the castle with Tom, and they're both frantically looking for Marco. Because they care about him, and he cares about them. Even if it hurts.]

Y-you're.. you're right, Lekmet.

[Marco reaches his arm up to wipe at his tears, before taking a deep breath to calm down.]

So what if she's dating Tom? They're happy together, and I should just... be happy for them. That's what her best friend would do, right?

[He looks up at Lekmet with a thankful looking smile.]

And anyway, I should probably focus more on the fact that I might die here than some stupid teenage drama or whatever.

[He sure does agree on the best friend part- his expression changes to stern about the possibility of Marco dying. Not on his watch.

'We ~~can't~~ WON'T die here. I'd bring you and Star back myself if I have to.'

At this point, he definitely doesn't know that most of his healing powers were gone when it came to reviving the dead.

The fact that Star was as powerful as a certain Queen gave him some ray of hope. The MHC could come along as well, but he doubted they'd get far without him, the voice of reason in that forsaken group.

'This place seems to have aged you a bit,' he notes in concern. Aged like a great deal- three decades? Which seems impossible.]

Aged?

[Marco echoes that, looking at the goat with mild confusion.]

I'm still the goofy fifteen year old Marco Diaz everyone knows and loves!

[well technically hes like thirty thanks to that thing with heckapoo but its fine]

I mean... I don't usually get put into dangerous situations like this without Star, so I'm just trying the best I can. Like, there are a lot of people here who have never dealt with something like this before, so I dunno... I feel like I should be protecting them, because that's what Star would do.

['Emotionally aged, at least. Kids like you don't deserve this sort of traumatic event, ever.'

On another note, about a third of the whole crew were children, and he better start watching over protectively.

'For every kid here there's two adults- granted, not all of them are trustworthy, but most of them should have the decency to look out for the young.'

Yeah, well... not every adult here knows how to deal with kids, I guess.

[He can't imagine Negaduck becoming a father any time soon.]

And at least a couple of us know how to handle ourselves. I mean, this is actually pretty tame compared to the kinds of stuff Star and I have dealt with before. I was almost crushed to death because of Toffee, once.

['They need to learn, if they've got some ounce of humanity and dignity in them,'

He huffed, mainly thinking about Gaston, that awful man-child. Maybe there was hope for that man, if someone could poke at his ego.

'That's fair, I hope I don't come across as underestimating you all. Adult fears, and such.'

Had it not been for the laws of this dimension and universe, Lekmet would slaughter that lizard himself using his hooves. Alas, he's not the murdering type.

'Glad Toffee got what was coming to him, defeated and all.']

[Marco nods at the Toffee comment, and he looks at the keys for a minute of silence before just kind of.. plunking at them a little.]

Nah, I get it. I'm worried about the kids who are younger than me for the same reason.

[It's a little annoying having people act like you can't handle yourself, or you're just a kid. But Marco's a mature boy, he understands the fears and worries.]

A place where people are killing each other because some guy told them to is not exactly Rated E for everyone.

['Not to give them ideas, but I really wish for at least the youngest ones not to have been involved. This whole thing is rigged and unbalanced from the start.'

He doesn't know what to do with himself if he failed any of those children. It's going to hit them all hard.]

Hhhhh.

[Lekmet looks back to the piano keys and looks deep in thought. What other songs does he know to lighten the mood a little?]

Yeah, it's definitely rigged.

[The idea of someone like Gaston killing Mabel or Noby.. eugh..]

But that's why people like us are here. So we can protect the people who can't fight, and I'm going to keep trying to get everyone to band together and find a different way out of here.

['I hope we could play our way safely out of this; give our hosts a gigantic headache enough to distract them and flee.'

They're coping well. Suddenly, a gasp Lekmet remembers something important- maybe he did mention it in passing but forgot.

'Dimensional Scissors!!']

[Marco reads that -- Dimensional scissors -- and it nearly has him fall out of the seat with excitement.]

Do you have some?!

[He slams his hand on the piano keys as he says that, looking at Lekmet with hope in his eyes.]

['I had them! But the last time I saw it was before I woke up in this place.

Either way they probably have that crystal which renders it useless- We need to find and destroy that.'
