Week 3

[Well, someone took the bait last week, and now two people (if either of them could really be called a person) are dead. Not only that, it seems like your first host is now out of commission and replaced by someone who claims to be The Phantom. While he may not be incredibly worse than Facilier yet, it would be a stretch to say he's an improvement.

But, things aren't all bad! When the guests wake up on Sunday, they will find the stairs in the foyer are now open, leading to a whole new floor to explore!

And there's booze so no one will have to drink vinegar anymore.

That smile makes him more relaxed. What man with a pulse doesn't clown it up when a total babe encourages them with a smile like that?]

[Leia rolls her eyes, and sinks into the chair previously occupied by the Torture Bikini. Looking up at him, she shakes her head slowly, giving him a look she feels like she used to give Han an awful lot.

He's winking at her.

Oh, what the hell.]

I was always fonder of white. Or, more recently, grey and blue. It's a little more stately.

[Done horsing around with the bikini, Stan drops it on the stool for one of the card tables with a soft clang of metal. There's only so much laughs he can get out of what seems like a little bit of a sore subject.]

Well, those are good colors too. [Oh jeez here we go.] You could pull off looking stately in a flour sack, though.

[And then, swerving wildly away from that before he gets any more Uselessly Straight, he tips off the fez that he's swapped his sea beanie (seanie) out for and scratches his hand through his mop of silver hair.]

'Course "grey" kinda came to me whether I wanted it or not! [followed by a nervous laugh.]

[hasit]

[The compliment earns him an eyeroll, but she's smiling despite that.]

You flatter me...but thank you.

[Leia glances up as he removes that ridiculous hat of his, and quirks her mouth, as if she's considering it.]

At least it's uniform. I'm going grey in fits and starts.

[She reaches one hand up to brush at the sides of her hair where it's pulled back into a chignon. Her hair has always been her crowning glory; she can't help but be a little vain about it.]

[His grin softens when she brushes the sides of her hair.

God. What a fox.]

Well, everybody's different. For me it was practically overnight, like I just woke up the next day and wham, suddenly it's white as a mountaintop up there.

[Stanley that's a slight exaggeration. On several accounts.]

Ford's got the streaks of grey going on, too. Don't think I could've pulled it off near as well. But it makes it harder to switch places and fool people than when we were kids, if they're looking close enough.

[hasit]

You must have had a very bad dream for it to happen overnight like that.

[Her hand drops back to her lap, and she chuckles.]

You're identical then? Luke and I could never have pulled it off, even if we'd been together as kids. He's all blonde hair and blue eyes. You'd really never know we were related.

[stanbyme]

[Hahahaaaa his life up til that point was a very bad dream, Leia.]

Nah, not technically. But close enough some people just assumed we were. Having names that matched as close as Stanley and Stanford probably didn't hurt, neither.

[Until they saw Ford's hands, and then they usually immediately switched focus to that.

He chuckles, and settles his fez back on his head.]

Sounds like he's a real golden boy. [Stanley that's a lame joke] I can't say it woulda been better, 'cause being near-identical's come in handy a couple times, but I’d be lying if I said there ain’t been times I wished it weren't so much like lookin in a mirror.

[hasit]

Stanley...and Stanford. Really? I'm sure that wasn't confusing at all.

And golden boy is right. [It's more accurate than you'll ever know.] But if I looked in the mirror now and saw my brother looking back at me...Well, I'd be a little worried.

[stanbyme]

[His expression falters like he just climbed a flight of stairs and thought there was an extra step at the top, but he puts a sheepish grin back on.]

Guess so, huh.

[He remembers the first time he acknowledged that he couldn't go without glasses anymore, looking in the mirror and seeing Filbrick, seeing Ford but with greying hair and wrinkles that he wasn't sure he'd ever get the chance to see Ford old enough to have, and how it had been another three months and a fender bender before he'd been brave enough to put them on again.

But he'd gotten Ford back in the end. It didn't seem fair to bring up in front of Leia, whose brother was... Well, gone.

So instead he finds a seat and sits down next to her.]

[hasit]

[She wasn't meaning to sound judgmental, honestly. She was mostly just surprised that Stan's parents would name their near-identical twin boys near-identical names as well. Luke and Leia are alliterative, sure, but they don't have the same root name. She hesitates, for a moment, and shakes her head.]

—but they've got character, you know. Not every Jev and Rowam can say that.

[It's clear by the tone of her voice that Jev and Rowam are very common names in her galaxy.

She glances over when he sits down beside her, and gives him a cautious, sidelong glance.]

Cred for your thoughts?

[The first swing at the realization that they're on two different branches of the conversation whiffs him completely.

The second, when he's sitting next to her and she's giving him a look, hits him hard enough to smack him dumb for a moment. He doesn't blush, but he gets a little flustered, looking away from her and down to his hands, which are folded between his knees.]

Nah, it's nothin'.

[And then he laughs, quietly.]

You know what would've happened if we'd both decided we wanted 'Stan' for a nickname? Chaos. We'd've had to fight for it.

[hasit]

[At first when she'd met Stan, she'd been...less than impressed. He seemed like no good, a little more crass than she was used to anymore. But the more she talks to him, the more he seems...Sweet.

And the more she needs to remind herself that it isn't wise to get attached.

Leia chuckles.]

Now that's a fight I'd lay money on. If you brother's built anywhere near like you, at least.

[What? She's middle-aged, not blind.]

[stanbyme]

[Honestly she should've trusted her first impression But there's a good heart under there. Under... all of that. Deep. Deep down.

He preens a little.]

If we fought now, that'd be worth betting on. As kids, though? He was a scrawny nerd, I would'a taken him easy.

[He loves his brother.]

[hasit]

I'm sure you'd never have taken advantage of that, you old dog.

[She gives him a mischievous grin; she'd bet money that the opposite was true.]

[stanbyme]

[Shit, his stomach does a flip-flop at that mischievous grin.]

What kinda younger twin would I have been if I didn't?

[hasit]

[That makes her pause for a moment.]

...You know, I never found out whether Luke or I was born first. But since I'm the only one left...I'm going to go ahead and stake my claim as the older twin.
