[Two more people died this week. Two children. And they died because of a freak accident. Despite all your protests, Randall refused to let Jane get away despite being innocent.

But there is a tiny ray of hope now, which comes in the form of the mirror. Now that the mirror is public information, you can see people you care about, even if they are dead and trapped in hell. Not only that, but you now now that someone is trying to save you all from the predicament that you're in. And this time there's a good chance that he won't turn out to be a heartless mass murderer!

Still, the ideas for the plan are vague and you have no idea when you will actually get out. It's hard to keep up hope when your only chance of living might still end with you horribly killed, isn't it?

At least you have a new floor and the ability to wash your clothes now.

[ As she stands, Kim stands with her, having been kneeling. ] If you're sure... What are you even doing here?

[ ...belatedly, does a double-take at freddie's shadow, that sure is something happening ]

And...how do you plan on doing that? [ A beat. ] Why do you have one of those...weird, gross things?

Not sure. I need to find the soul-tearing function on this thing.

[oh right she. forgot that was there. glances at the heffalump.]

With what? The... [ oh there's a gem there huh. in the shadow's...hand... ] What is that?

My birthright jewel? Pretty, right? It's definitely my color.

Oh... I remember something about that at one of the meetings, but I didn't know it could do...all this. [ ... ] What can it do, anyway?

[her shadow hands her back her jewel, and she grins at Kim.]

[ ...a gulp. ]

Um... I don't know, will it hurt you? Or... [ She glances at the heffalump. ] Will you get in trouble for messing with one of Randall's annoying buddies?

Won't know 'til we try! [SO LET'S JUST FUCKING AIM AT THAT ASSHOLE AGAIN] Bam!

[cool so this is now on the FORMING GIANT SHARDS OF LIKE VAGUELY JADE-COLORED STONE AND SHOOTING THEM AT THE FUCKING TARGET setting, which would be super cool if Freddie knew how to, like, aim. she doesn't, so it's actually just fucking impaling the walls around the grooving heffalump. at least she remains upright this time.]

[ Kim gapes because OH HOLY SHIT WHY. Her mouth opens and closes as she tries to find the words for this, but. ]

Randy could go drink saltwater for all I care. What's he gonna do, kill me?

He might. Having him chase you around and call you a friend is just as bad. [ shiver ]

There's pretty much nothing that guy can do to weird me out that hasn't been done already, so I'm pretty [shrugs] at this point.

Glad you're finally looking me in the eye like I'm a person again, though. [because she totally noticed]

[ a...h.... ]

O-oh. [ Kim glances away for a moment. ] I... I'm sorry. I should've come to talk to you sooner, I just- I didn't...really know how.

With words, I'd expect.

See, that's the weird thing with you good people. On the Isle, when you have a problem with somebody, you just punch them in the face or call their mama something. None of this weird silent treatment stuff.

[pinkflip]

I'm not giving you the silent treatment, at least...not intentionally, I just... [ nervous hair-tuck ] I didn't think you'd want to listen to anything from me.

[faciliheir]

I don't. [beat] I mean, if it's lecturing about how I'm an insensitive jerk-- yeah, I already know that. Sorry I haven't changed literally my entire world view to please everyone.

[pinkflip]

No, I... I figured that wouldn't matter much, from me. I just...

[ She chews on her lower lip, eyes dropped to the side before taking a deep breath and looking at Freddie. ]

I wanted to say you were right. I shouldn't have said those things in the first place. I'm sorry for snapping.

[faciliheir]

It's fine. [this is said very abruptly, like she just wants to move past it because apologies are weird, but when she speaks again, it's. somewhat gentle.]

Sometimes things aren't always what they seem, when you first look at them. Growing up the way I did, you realize pretty fast that for pretty much every evil thing that's ever been done, there's some reason for it. Maybe you're tired of people ignoring you. Or pushing you around. Or maybe you're scared, and small, and you're not thinking about everyone else because all you can think about is you and yours.

[pause] There's disgusting people out there, doing disgusting things. Just don't be so quick to throw that label around.

[ She listens and nods, taking all of this in. It sounds so simple in theory, and yet. ]

I guess...I've been looking at things more black and white than I'd want to admit. I've got some things to learn too, you know?
