[One week. One week spent in the Haunted Mansion, and nothing seems to have changed. The hinges still creak in doorless chambers, strange and frightening sounds still echo through and you still occasionally catch a flicker of candlelight out of the corner of your eye. You might be slowly becoming familiar with the mundanity of this communal life, and we've recognized that possibility.

Something has to give.]

It does, doesn't it? I didn't even know these fruits existed until earlier this week.

[ Luckily melons are pretty easy to slice, so soon there will be a second bowl of little green and orange squares for Naminé.]

I didn't know about a lot of the foods here, actually, but the stuff in the boxes doesn't taste so good.

[He pulls WALL-E as fast as he thinks the robot can roll, straight to his room. The bed blanket is wrinkled and the desk is littered with prizes, but on the chair rests a cape.]

We can put in the pillows and cape, add in soap and water, then see how that goes! Or, I dunno, make the cape wet and try to dry it out inside you.

That's true, it grows much better in paddies.

[Once the pot of water is back over there, she will scoop out the rice to put into it.]

[He jumps when he's snuck up on, folding the note quickly in half to hide the picture and the words both.

The notebook that he's writing on looks... well, more like a toddler's been writing on it. Shaky and uncertain, the same letters are written over and over again. "L e f o u," "G a s t t" "G a s t e" "G a s t o n"]

Uh... What's that?

Nah, she won't. It's not worth making him sad or upset.]

How did you get all of this stuff anyway?

Jiminy told me that escaping from this building was just as bad as killing someone.

[Wander, even you should know that that's not right. However with Fiddles she looks more awkward.]

I'm sorry Wander, there's nothing Fiddles and I can bond over. He thinks I'm dangerous. I'm pretty sure if someone dies he'll think I'm the one who did it, no matter what actually happened.

[Unfortunately, Mulan is a touch on the clumsy side, so being interrupted makes her jump and falter for a moment. But she doesn't fall completely over, she just looks a touch silly before straightening herself up and acting like nothing had happened. Nope, totally normal.]

Oh, hi. Yes, I'm a soldier. With armor and everything.

Y'know, that doesn't surprise me. It's not too different from my ma's, give or take a couple things.

[That's probably more comforting than anything else in this place has been yet. When he's stressed the best thing for him is something familiar, something grounding, and he's been wholly unable to find that here. This is Good.]

Mainly that it'd be just strawberries, since that's what we had the biggest patch of.

[So it's what they wound up keeping the most of when the rest of it got sold so their family of ten wasn't living on just strawberries and pork.]

I suppose you're right. And now that my deep dark secret is out, there's nothing to worry about anymore.

[Wrong, there's everything to worry about.]

Just don't eat the whole thing yourself, either.

Well that's nothing a little grain can't fix, right?

Probably not but I figured I could share it with a few people. [Hey, she loves sugar too but she can't exactly run around here.]

It's something detectives do where they compare the handwriting to see if it matches someone else's. [Although...judging from the writing, it looks like he's doing something else.] Are you unfamiliar with our alphabet or something?

With armor? I didn't know any soldiers wore armor outside of fairy stories.

[The Orient is weird. Not that he sounds anything more than just curious. Now that "he's" stopped, Lefou comes a little further in the room.]

[Blinks. Flicks her tail, tilts her head.]

Exactly like that. Being stuck is awful! How does anyone survive, not going outside! What are we supposed to do!

I was wearing it the first day here, didn't you see it?

[Truthfully the only reason Mulan doesn't keep it on is because it's too warm in here with it on. She had been tromping around on a snowy mountainside before this, her armor was meant for the snow.]

And why wouldn't a soldier wear armor? They need to protect themselves, don't they?

[Never ask yourself that question, Elsa, things can always be weirder.

Still, Kiara isn't remotely observant enough to notice anything off about Elsa's reactions to her, and after days of "omg a talking lion!" over and over, it's quite refreshing to just skip that whole thing and get on with it.]

Well, I don't actually believe that he's a spirit, but no, I haven't. Why?

Mothers never change, I guess.

We had an apple tree. I used to climb it to help get the apples down from the tall branches. I always complained that the apples were too tart, so she would put extra sugar on it just for me.

Where are you from, M'sieur Fiddleford?

["girls who can read" is still not higher on the list of weird things than "talking lion" or "robot," so at least he can avoid putting his foot completely in it.]

I'm just... out of practice?

[Before she heads to bed, Anna's for a late night snack and--]

[It took some doing, but eventually Kiara sort of figures out the slot machine. Observing other people helped, but even then, paws are not designed for coins.

One way or another, though, her curiosity demands she make it work. So work it does, and her rewards are... a log, and a green tophat. She has no idea what the hat is or what it's for, so she leaves it sitting on a piece of furniture, and starts carefully rolling the log back to her room.

It gets caught on the door, and she has to rethink her strategy. A lion pushing a log around a haunted mansion. Sure, why not.

Eventually she gives up partway through the foyer and just flops right down on top of it. Naptime.]

[She stares. And then giggles. And giggles some more.]

That's silly.

[Well, you look like exactly what you are!

That gets her to look down at the floor.]
