WEEK 2

[One week. One week spent in the Haunted Mansion, and nothing seems to have changed. The hinges still creak in doorless chambers, strange and frightening sounds still echo through and you still occasionally catch a flicker of candlelight out of the corner of your eye. You might be slowly becoming familiar with the mundanity of this communal life, and we've recognized that possibility.

Something has to give.]

C'mon, why wouldn't I talk to him? [He does a one-armed shrug. Running off to befriend scary ghosts is basically his thing.] He wasn't the guy that brought us here, but he says we all got our magic taken away, includin' my hat. So once we find the person he works for, we'll be outta here in no time!

[Until then, Wander has to make do without a Bag of Holding.]

Anyway, what's this about the slot machine? All I got were some clothes and a snowglobe out of it.

[She supposed, but she's been very paranoid about Wander getting hurt lately.]

Oh right, did he tell you why they did that to us? I figured it's so that we can't escape, but it seems like the building is reinforced with something to prevent that anyway.

[She takes a deep breath before going back to the slot machine. Keep calm, keep calm...]

You remember Fiddles, right? He found a hand in the machine.

[WALL-E nods, pushing a button on his chest to stop the music momentarily, and then pressing the play button again to bring back Barbara Streisand's singing. Nifty, huh?]

[whistlenotchirp]

...Close enough! [He's two inches how dare you]

Now, let me ask: how many other people my size have you met?

[trashcubes]

[WALL-E makes a sheepish-sounding noise, hand coming up to their head as if mimicking scratching the back of it while the music still plays from the speakers.

Do you like it?]

[trashcubes]

[It sure is! WALL-E even spins around a little in a circle here as their way of dancing along to the music.]

..............Nope! [He really should have asked.]

A hand? Like a plastic hand painted red so it looks like it's been chopped off and left bleedin' for days, the realistic ones they sell at high-end horror shops? [THAT IS TOTALLY FITTING FOR A HAUNTED MANSION, WHAT ELSE COULD IT BE?]

Aw, don't be so modest about it. I think you're doin' a great job [He gestures at the floor.] Both at singin' and at cleanin'! I can't believe how good you are at this.

Oh, yeah, ghosts and monsters 'n stuff aren't that common on Earth, are they? I see them all the time, so it's no big.

[Boredom is affecting Wander, too, though it manifests as general agitation. Agitation that he is working to stave off by lying on the recently mopped wooden floors of the conservatory and attempting to do the back crawl across the room. He'll need to take a shower after this, but hey, it would be worth it.

He doesn't hear Elsa come in, so she is greeted by the sight of an orange muppet on his back staring at the ceiling, waving his limbs to propel him inch by inch.]

[And now she gets what he's talking about.]

Wait, you're telling me you're thinking about dating at a time like this? Don't we have a lot more important things to be worrying about? Like, I dunno, escaping?

[.... Well. Okay then. It's a good thing Elsa's pretty used to Olaf's oddness, or else she might be pretty concerned now. This isn't to say she's not confused, but... at the very least this isn't weirding her out.]

Wander... are you all right?

[thetimebomb]

[She gives Wander a Look. Well, at least she finally has something answerable to ask GH when she gets the time.]

Wander, we were pretty sure it was an actual human hand!

Oh!

[At the sound of the other voice, Elsa jumps a little, jaw clenching as she just manages to avoid yelping out loud (though a rather amusing squeak can still be heard). She had been so focused on the paintings that she hadn't even realized someone else was in the room with her!

... Is Namine just seeing things, or did a short flutter of snowflakes just fall from the ceiling...?]

Um... Namine, correct? [She'd absolutely made sure to read through all the profiles not long after their stay started, yep.] I'm sorry, I didn't hear you come in.

[folkscallmewander]

Floop. [He lies still with his limbs outstretched and rotates his head so he can get a good look at who just walked in.] Oh, Elsa! I'm just fine, only passin' the time.

[His voice gets deeper and lower.] Heh, also dustin' the floors, apparently. [He raises a fist and returns to his usual tone.] Multitasking!

Of course I want to get out! But do you know how long crickets live?! My time's a little short here.

[defyingfrigidity]

You certainly find interesting ways to pass the time.

[She laughs, but it's a good-natured sort of laugh. No mockery here!]

I'd be careful if I were you. We can't be sure how many years worth of dust and dirt are on these floors.

[He's grinning. His mouth is grinning but his eyes sure ain't.

...An old mummified hand? [Still creepy, but not as creepy as a fresh one.]

Ahhh...

[Thank you Wander, you're too kind. The floor is certainly a little cleaner... save for what looks like little boxes made of garbage that WALL-E has stacked in the corner.]

Oh, it's fine. [He reaches out in front of him and sits up. There are a few dusty patches on his back fur.] Mike and I worked on this room a few days ago, and I made sure to mop every corner!

[When Namine comes into the study, she'll find that she's not alone: WALL-E is here too poking at some of the things as well.

Upon spotting Namine, the robot will lift it's hand in a wave. Hello there!]

[He pats WALL-E on the head. What a good robot!]

What's this? Didja get them from the machine? [Walks over to the trash cubes.] Huh. Is it someone's art project?

[Ah...]

I think you might've missed a few spots. Would you like me to get that for you?

[It's funny... for someone who doesn't really like touching too much dirty stuff, she's been doing that a lot lately, hasn't she? She helped wall-e out with his dirt problem the other day, and now this...]

[And then Sylvia realizes in a dawning horror that she has probably said some things that she shouldn't.]

... Wait how long do crickets normally live?
