[One week. One week spent in the Haunted Mansion, and nothing seems to have changed. The hinges still creak in doorless chambers, strange and frightening sounds still echo through and you still occasionally catch a flicker of candlelight out of the corner of your eye. You might be slowly becoming familiar with the mundanity of this communal life, and we've recognized that possibility.

Something has to give.]

[Aww he's adorable. Kiara eases back down into a catloaf.]

It's... well, I was never as good at explaining it as my father, but... it's the idea that all of us are part of the same whole. We're all living things under the same sun, and we move through every part of the land in our lives. Like, the lions eat the antelope and the zebra, right? But when we die, our bodies return to the grass, and then those animals eat the grass, and the spirits of our forefathers live in the wind and rain, which makes the grass grow.

[Does that make sense?]

[Yes it is.

It is a sleepy lion, though, so it takes her a good long moment before she even notices the light.

One eye, then another opens. Her eyes flicker to follow the light, pupils dilating as she hones in on it. Her tail twitches.]

Wassat?

[Did someone say fancy clothes]

Well, that's a fine looking hat you won there, ma'am.

[He grins as she moves, but doesn't say anything. This would be even better with a spoon... or a laser! He's not got either at the moment, though, so a fork will have to do.

He wiggles it slightly, making the light dance enticingly.]

[capulion]

Is it?

[Lions don't wear hats.]

I really don't get what this thing is for but I guess it spat out a hat at me.

[capulion]

[Enticing it is. It jiggles and flashes and looks very much like a very shiny beetle. Her tail twitches again and she slowly lifts herself up into a crouch.]

Hmm....

[She watches it go, tail swishing and shoulders moving just a little.]

Oh, it's a swell little thing. Folks wear it to look all professional and whatnot. Usually with a nice outfit to go with.

[He does a little strut to show off his own ensemble.]

[Catloaf. She is such a giant adorable kitty with razor sharp teeth and knife-like claws that can tear a man's throat out. But her nose is so cute!

Oh right, the Circle of Life.]

Well, your dad is right. Just because somethin' is over doesn't mean nothin' else is gonna come over it. [Though he would say the dead live on in memories rather than the wind, but he's not here to give a science lecture.] Much like when a flower dies, it's got a legacy lives on through its seeds.

[He kicks his legs.] It's true even for planets and stars.

[capulion]

[Good job you're going to have to explain clothes to a lion.]

So all those colors on you those are... removable?

[whistlenotchirp]

[Hey guess who immediately regrets this.]

Erm. Yes, well. Yes.

[He takes off his own little hat and hopes she doesn't ask for other demonstrations.]

[capulion]

[She's a soft and gentle top predator! She sighs with a melancholy sort of smile.]

My daddy is usually right, but don't tell him I said so or I'll never hear the end of it.

[Her ears perk up again.]

Plants, too... yeah. Planets and stars? Daddy says the stars are the great kings of our past watching over us...

[Maybe you are going to have to give a science lecture.]

[capulion]

[Well that's a start.]

Why? For... decoration?

[She knows some animals paint themselves with mud and stuff sometimes...?]

[This is so cool to watch. He never thought he'd get a chance to watch a real live lion hunt. Sure, they're at the zoo, but that's not the same as being in the same room with one.

He makes the light dance a little distance away.]

[capulion]

[Too bad for him this one is a huge novice. If he knows much about cats he'll notice that she moves a bit more like a really big kitten still learning how to hunt than a fully grown predator.

Still, she makes her best effort with a little wiggle and then POUNCE!

She overshoots.

She crashes.]

Aw man.

...They're not totally made from souls. [He's not ready for this.] There's space dust and heat and stuff mixed in there, much like how planets are made from rocks or gas.

[...]

I once met a planet that talked back to me.

[whistlenotchirp]

....Something like that! And, uh...

...lack of fur! Yeah, since other fellas don't have fur, they need something to compensate for it.

[capulion]

[Planets. Made from rocks and gas.

This is going way over her head, dude.]

Space dust... I don't know what that is but it sounds neat.

[You successfully distracted her with that last bit, though.]

Wait, a talking plant?

[Ok, that? It's too cute. He has to stifle a giggle, which she'll probably hear, and the flicker of light vanishes as he covers his mouth.]

Oh wow I can't imagine not having fur...

[She shivers at the thought.]

No warmth, no protection. That sounds like a lot of work though! I'm happy to have my fur.

[capulion]

[OSHI-

Busted. She puts her ears down and curls her tail in a bit.]

You saw that, didn't you?

[whistlenotchirp]

[Oh thank god he doesn't have to strip.]

T-that's right! With outfits keeping us warm, we can give it a bit of flair. Style. And so on.

Yeah.

[No need to hide it.]

You're only a little lion, though, so it's ok!

[You'd think he'd be more surprised about the whole talking thing, but he's head her before, like as not.]

And this hat is... stylish?

I mean, I'm not that little.

[She's grateful for the excuse, though, so she isn't half so offended about being called little.

She's still pretty embarrassed, though.]

I thought I was getting better...

Uh-huh. I mean, the planet talked, but she always showed up as a flower for face-to-face stuff, but that's better than talkin' to the ground.

She was [yandere?] very excitable - bein' a new planet and all - and really lonely. So I stayed for a while to chat and help her develop, and soon enough she got her own moon!
