[One week. One week spent in the Haunted Mansion, and nothing seems to have changed. The hinges still creak in doorless chambers, strange and frightening sounds still echo through and you still occasionally catch a flicker of candlelight out of the corner of your eye. You might be slowly becoming familiar with the mundanity of this communal life, and we've recognized that possibility.

Maybe at your size, but they're some deadly fellas if you aren't careful.

[He gestures to the cockroach happily.]

Well, he hasn't introduced himself yet and he doesn't have a biography... but cockroach's are a sneaky bunch. No offense intended.

[Mike blinks, thinking that over. Is..is that a bug stereotype?? Is there bug racism??? Okay, better to push those thoughts aside before that confuses him too much.]

Uh. Okay, if you say so. S'not like it doesn't fit in with this mismatched group.

Okay, dumb question, but can you like, talk to all bugs?

I mean, I haven't met every bug. Not all bugs know each other. [Who's the bug racist now.] But every bug I've met has been a chatter.

Although this fella's a little on the quiet side.

Well maybe you two can, uh. Get with some of the nicer spiders and have like a poker night??

Oh golly no. They'll eat us whether we win or lose.

Can't think of a spider that enjoys a mini sandwich.

Look, what I'm saying is, it might be nice for you guys to make some kinda truce with the spider dudes and hang out. I mean, they had to be hanging out here before we showed up, so maybe they get their grub some other way.

That's a nice thought, but frankly, I'd trust a spider about as far as I can throw one. Which I can't, because he'd grab me with his little pinchers and eat me.

[His tone is extremely condescending.]

Sorry, dude. Guess I was just trying to think of. . .bug. . .stuff? For you guys to do. Pretty sure the spiders can't really talk, anyway.

Guess I wouldn't be all that friendly with, uh. [what is the equivalent of a scary spider for a human.......] . . .a giant attack drone suddenly waving a flag and asking to hang out! Unless its AI was reprogrammed, anyway. [nailed it.]

Well, I've never met a talking one, but I'm sure they're real potty-mouthed. Definitely not worth sticking around.

Iii'll keep that in mind. I feel like my view of the bug world has totally expanded today.
