[One week. One week spent in the Haunted Mansion, and nothing seems to have changed. The hinges still creak in doorless chambers, strange and frightening sounds still echo through and you still occasionally catch a flicker of candlelight out of the corner of your eye. You might be slowly becoming familiar with the mundanity of this communal life, and we've recognized that possibility.

Yeah, me and mom mostly just baked cookies. Or cupcakes, sometimes. [She waves her fork.] I guess most people think of cinnamon rolls as stuff you just buy from the store.

We never really baked but she had me help with dinner. [She gives a slow nod.] Right. I'm really surprised this tastes so good.

Really? I'm not really good at any actual cooking. Most of what I can do is just heating stuff up. [More cinnamon roll munchies] Where'd you find this anyways?

Yes. Mrs. Oiwa--the lady I'm staying with over the summer--she said she was surprised that I was able to help her so much. [Yoriko is a good foster mom.] I got it out of the machine. It was warmer than this but I got it to the kitchen as fast I could.

That's a nice compliment. [She blinks.] Out of the machine? I...I didn't know it could give food. I mean, fresh food.

She and her husband are really nice. [Loud and annoying at times but nice.] I didn't either. It was the first time I used it. Or second, I guess. I got a playing card the first time.

Yeah, I got some stuff out of it too. Nothing edible...I think. [The Grey Stuff has been packed away somewhere she doesn't need to keep looking at it.] I did get this weird skull-staff that looks like something a cartoon villain would have.

That's... kind of cool.

I guess? It's not really the kind of stuff I'm interested in right now. [A pause] You want it?

Not really. I don't really need anything.

Oh? [She looks a little surprised.] Do you mean you've already got what you want? Like your sketchbook?

[outsidethecircle]

[...Phrasing Anna.] Not... not really but I'm just not sure what to do with that kind of thing. I still kind of wish I had my sketchbook. [The book she was using was just the notebook everyone was given in their room, after all.]

[A shrug] Maybe Star or Wander would like it. They seem pretty into playing imagination-type games.

They both might like it. Though, I worry about Star... she might whack someone with it. [Hit them. Not kill them.]

...yeah, and I don't think she'd limit it to the ghosts.

Probably not.

...yeah, I think I'll just keep it for now. Unless someone mentions owning it or something.

She's nice but... [She doesn't mean to say what she says out loud next but it's still true.] She might hit the lion with it just to see what happens.

[Tip winces at the idea.] ...I don't really think there's any "might" about it. [She doesn't really think Kiara would maul anyone here, but still...]

... Maybe Miss Kiara would break it. [She's fairly sure of that, too, but... Still poking an Actual Lion wouldn't be good. Who knows if she'd be able to control her strength if her and Star roughhoused.]

Yeah. It's made of plastic, after all.

Is it? I thought it was made of wood by the way you were talking about it.

[Well, she did just leave it in her room.] ...I'm not sure now. I just remember thinking it looked fake, so I guess I kind of assumed fake=plastic? [She leans back in her chair a bit.]

Well...I hope it's not actually, you know. A skull or anything. [Anna, why are you bringing this up?]

I'm pretty sure it's too small to be anything but fake.
