[One week. One week spent in the Haunted Mansion, and nothing seems to have changed. The hinges still creak in doorless chambers, strange and frightening sounds still echo through and you still occasionally catch a flicker of candlelight out of the corner of your eye. You might be slowly becoming familiar with the mundanity of this communal life, and we've recognized that possibility.

What is sauerkraut? Is it what you're cutting?

Ah, no. This is just cabbage. [How do you explain lacto-fermentation to someone without making it sound disgusting.] Sauerkraut is what you get when you mix cabbage with salt and water, then let it mix together for a week. It's sort of like a . . . cabbage pickle?

So does it taste very salty, then?

[She has to think about that. Like, logically she knows it involves a lot of salt but would she say it tastes salty?]

Mmmm . . . Not really, unless you drink the juices. It's more sour than salty, I would say.
