WEEK 2

[One week. One week spent in the Haunted Mansion, and nothing seems to have changed. The hinges still creak in doorless chambers, strange and frightening sounds still echo through and you still occasionally catch a flicker of candlelight out of the corner of your eye. You might be slowly becoming familiar with the mundanity of this communal life, and we've recognized that possibility.

Something has to give.]

[He pats Heihei on the head. The chicken looks confused.]

I'm thinkin' Honey Nut, somethin' cute and sweet. Right, Honey Nut?

[Heihei continues to peck the bowl.] Guess he's more curious than hungry right now, huh?

That's nice.

[It's as good a name as any, he supposes. Ford chuckles, not looking up from his manual.]

I told you, he's incredibly stupid.

Aw, don't be like that, Ford! Honey Nut is doin' his best!

[He holds up a piece of corn. Heihei pauses his pecking to look at it (or however well he can with those unfocused eyes) and pecks Wander's fingers. What is this strange orange stuff?]

He likes me!

[Ford covers his face with his palm.]

Yes, he certainly seems to like you. His best just isn't that great.

[He picks up the bowl and slides it into his hat, which is then wears. No corn falls out of it. He scoops up Heihei and an apple in his arms.]

I'll make him a bed out of some blankets. Thanks again for lettin' me have him!

I'm sure he'll like that. [Ford sets his guide down in his lap and gives Wander a little smile.]

No, thank you for taking him off my hands. Have fun with him.

[Wander scoops Heihei--rather, Honey Nut in his noodle arms and walks off. The bird is almost his size, and the poor chicken looks distressed as it hovers over the ground by only a few inches.

Wander has always wanted a pet, and now he has one.]

[Ford watches Wander waddle off with the chicken in tow. They really are distressingly similar in size. Ford only hopes the thing doesn't try to eat his new alien friend...]
