Week 8
[Thanks to Freddie, it seems as though you’ve dealt your first, honest blow to Randall. Truly a fitting end to the Randall Rech Zone. Sadly, you’re still stuck here, but something inside you is nagging at you to keep your head up. This late in the game, nobody has to be willing to resort to murder.

[She just. Casually keeps the bottle on the other side of her. If he asks for it, she'll give it back, but he seems to have gone pretty hard on that bottle.]
You...you can't change what's in the past, honey. That's just part of life. But you can control what you do going forward.

Alcohol was never really his poison, anyway, sure he used to overindulge but it was never anything he got dependent on. But he still remembers all the cleaning he had to do in Ford's house after Ford fell into the portal, and sometimes it was easier to just get drunk and feel sorry for yourself when the equations in the book were too much for your stupid 11th grade educated brain to handle.]
I know.
[If he hadn't been so stupid and knocked Ford into the portal, they could have found a way to stop Bill together. If he hadn't broken Ford's science experiment, Bill would never have gotten hold of his brother in the first place.]
...I know it, Starshine.
[His eyes are red and glassy, and his nose is brighter than normal, but he looks at her and then reaches over (about halfway to that full-body way that people do anything when they're drunk) and puts his hand over hers.]

She leans up and presses her cheek to his, but not before she kisses into his whiskers.]
We all have regrets. That doesn't mean they have to control our whole lives.

I spent thirty years trying to fix one mistake. Never once thought I might've been chasing a ghost, I always thought I would've just...known.
I never realized how lucky I was that I didn't get him killed.

[She settles against his side, staring straight ahead at the bar top.]
You'll see him again. And your nephew, too.

Stings my pride a little just having to sit here and wait for my nerd brother to come rescue us. Bet he ain't used to it being this way around.
[hi ford he knows you can hear him you damsel in distress motherfucker]

I take it you're usually the one saving his behind?

No wonder your eyesight's so terrible. I can picture it perfectly, though. A little scrapper.

Ford was always the brains of the operation. I had the... [He waves his hand, trying to find the right word.] The other thing. Punching.
[Nailed it.]

The brawn. But you're no slouch, Stanley. It takes smarts to run a con, and from what you've told me, you've done that plenty.

I figured out how to fix Ford's stupid machine, too. Didn't graduate high school, but I learned all that physics and math just so I could get him back.

[She chuckles.]
If it makes you feel any better, I didn't finish school, either. I was...expelled.

I was seven. I reprogrammed the Collegium's mainframe with Rebel propaganda and played the forbidden anthem of the Old Republic over the loudspeaker. They didn't take very kindly to that. After that, I just had my tutors, but they were boring as sin.

[He sounds impressed.]
I 'preciate a rebel with a cause.
