ENDGAME GROUP 1: Hellscapes (Log 1)

Now then.

[The initial groups have begun to disperse, and Ghostave and a group of stalwart young heroes remain seated right where they are.]

One of the things we’re looking for is supposedly in The Underworld. I intend to use this opportunity to speak to Hades as well, about his intentions.

...As well as find this “other box” that he seems to have so casually mentioned. Do we have any questions before we venture forth?

[At the first box.

Probably makes sense considering where he was a while ago.]

[Interesting, interesting. Time to have a look at the other pieces in play, are there any other ones in the first box?]

[LeFou is a little bit shaken but he goes up to the Prince at the table and looks over the table with him.]

...I wonder if this is Hades' strategy table.

[On the first box? There's figures of Abe and Ghostave.]

Oh! This one looks like Monsieur Lincoln. And that one is... Our host. He ran our ritual for a while, and then he snuck out of the underworld to assist the next group.

And you all congregated together at the mansion. [Hmmmm.] Were you there the entire time after your ritual ended? [Because if so that sounds real weird.]

...[Opens mouth. Closes it.]

Ah... Not exactly. Monsieur Walt rescued our group - that is, what was left of us. He brought us to his home, "Main Street."

But not long after the next group of survivors joined us, Main Street was attacked and...

[He picks up poor Monsieur Abe's little figure, turning it over in his hand.]

Ford's ex- ah, partner possessed Monsieur Lincoln and used him to murder Monsieur Walt. After that we went back to the ruins of the mansion. That's where we watched the ritual that you were in, Your Highness.

...I'm not surprised he knew where we were, Hades was there when Main Street was destroyed.

[...Damn, that is A Lot.]

Your group has been through quite a lot. [That's rough, buddy. But also...] You said Hades was there?

I did. It seemed like his job was to distract us.

[He looks at the war table again, looking for any other figures that he recognizes.]

...That's concerning. I wonder who that might have been?

...Hmm...

Whoever they are, they're trapped with Monsieur Walt, if this map is to be believed.

Then whoever it is, I suppose we'll find out if we can get to where he is.

And hopefully that's not indicative of their actual state.

[What else we got?]

[The Hades figure is over in Club 33. Like a loser.

Outside that, it seems like these are the only pieces he currently has in play.]

Hades, Rod, Monsieur Lincoln, the host, Walt, this poor melted person, and Hades himself.

...Are these who Hades considers to be the major players on his side? It doesn't make much sense to plan the movements of his allies without considering the movements of his enemies as well. But...

[He pulls the letter back out of his pocket.]

"Walt did me wrong. You know that. I...if making more people go through what we did will get his attention, make him realize that what he did wasn't okay...I guess I could live with that."

[...Oh by the way guess who can read now, Belle.]

[Belle considers all of this thoughtfully. It's a puzzle, and she does so love puzzles, but this one feels like there are pieces missing. Like there's a move she hasn't considered as a possibility just yet.

But all of that is dashed from her mind as she watches Lefou read aloud from that letter, and her expression shifts to one of utter delight.]

You can read—! Lefou, that's remarkable!

[She'd always assumed he couldn't, given that he didn't have the same upbringing as most of the boys in the village, from what she's heard and been told.]

Is Hades playing war games?

Something like that. It seems to be an entire map of this place and this- [He points to the squares.] Looks important. Monsieur LeFou said his group found a bar tab from this place [Club 33.] during his ritual.

[Leans around from Beast's other side and wiggles his fingers in a gay little wave.]

Oh! Do you suppose the map's to scale?

[She points at that second box.] We could find the others quite easily, if it's where this is saying it is. And then perhaps check out this club.

I assume it is. [He nods along, his eyes scanning the board again and look a little closer at the second box. What's there?] That's what I was thinking as well.
