WEEK 3

[Karolina and Mulan are dead. The first, and hopefully the last, deaths of your stay here. Hopefully their deaths won't be in vain. Your third week here starts on a solemn note, and the mood here has taken on a significant downward spiral. If it's any consolation (it isn't), you'll find that you have two new floors to explore...even if one of those floors has about twenty STAY OUT signs nailed to it.

23 guests remain.]

[SUNDAY MONDAY TUESDAY WEDNESDAY THURSDAY]

{ooc: Don't forget to turn in your week 2 AC! As we're now officially in full murdergame mode, AC from here on out is extended till Thursday.}

For a complete beginner...hmmm...

[Demyx looks around]

Try to find drums. That's easy enough. You'll like the drums.
aboyandhiscar: (time for a ride)

[personal profile] aboyandhiscar 2017-06-29 01:54 am (UTC)(link)
Drums huh? All rat-a-tat-tat like? Yeah, I can work with that. [LETS FIND SOME DRUMS--and lo and behold, a rickety old drumset right there. It looks like it could fall apart at any moment, but for now, it'll work. Mike fans the thickest layer of dust off them and tests a cymbal, it makes a soft clatter.]

Nice, nice, think these will work?

[personal profile] arpeggiositar 2017-06-29 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Those are perfect! And for me, let's see...some string instrument... [There's a banjo. He doesn't want to see himself playing the banjo, but it's what looks like it won't fall apart instantly, so takes it, resigned]

I can't believe I'm going to have to play a banjo.
aboyandhiscar: (good job team!!)

[personal profile] aboyandhiscar 2017-06-29 11:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh! I dunno man, I bet you could really make that thing shine, you seem to know what you're doing. [He looks around for some drumsticks--there's like half of one and a plastic binders stick but you know what THAT'LL WORK.]

C'mon, show a newbie like me how it's done. Maybe we can make something that sorta sounds like music.

Okay, let me see... [Where do you start with a complete beginner...?] Uh, you know the notes? Okay, I guess it doesn't matter that much when it comes to drums! Just follow me!

[And then Demyx goes into a tune that's definitely not for beginners. Sorry, Mike]
aboyandhiscar: (shiba inu puppies!!!)

[personal profile] aboyandhiscar 2017-07-01 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
[jeezus thanks Demyx!!

Mike knows negative squat about music (the fuck are notes??) but he can at least follow a beat. After a moment of blank confusion, he starts hitting the drums, dust kicking up at every strike. It's not good, but it's not actually that bad either, with him somehow managing to sound like. . .well, maybe a backup drummer for the back up. He looks like he's having fun though, more than impressed with Demyx's playing.]

How's this, dude? Are we jamming?
arpeggiositar: (3)

[personal profile] arpeggiositar 2017-07-02 02:36 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah! That's good! You're doing great!

[Not bad, Mike! Demyx seems to actually be enjoying it, at least until the banjo disintegrates in his hands, the pieces falling to the floor. That was some enthusiastic playing. Despite the banjo breaking, he doesn't seem bothered about it]

Wow, I really missed this. I hadn't stayed away from music for so long!

You were doing great, the drums suit you!
aboyandhiscar: (whuddup folk)

[personal profile] aboyandhiscar 2017-07-02 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
I've got a good teacher! [Not that demyx is really teaching him anything and he's mostly just making noise.

A couple more hits, and then the drumset wobbles, suddenly collapsing to the floor in a jumbled noisy heap right after the banjo. Mike jumps back as it does, laughing a bit.]

Aaand there it goes. That really was pretty fun though! But dang, where'd you learn to play? First knives, now music, you're one talented guy!
arpeggiositar: (9)

[personal profile] arpeggiositar 2017-07-02 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
The knife thing was mostly a lucky hit, haha!

[Demyx seems much more relaxed than before, that's for sure. He's idly digging around the pile of instruments without looking for anything specific]

I dunno, I have been playing music for so long I forgot when I started. Well, it was mostly the sitar, but the principle is the same for most string instruments.

The point is that I don't remember!
aboyandhiscar: (niiiiice)

[personal profile] aboyandhiscar 2017-07-02 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
Guess it doesn't matter much then--sounds like it's just plain instinct now. Nothing wrong with that, just means you're a natural.

[Mike goes to poke around a bit more too--he finds a. . .harp?? The strings let out a few notes as they immediately snap when plucked.]

[personal profile] arpeggiositar 2017-07-02 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, all this junk must be useful for something. It won't last for playing, but there must be something else that could be done with everything there's here...

[Look at this oboe. Demyx blows into it, a ridiculous amount of dust bursting from inside]

Any ideas?
Edited 2017-07-02 22:20 (UTC)
aboyandhiscar: (leeets not talk about that)

[personal profile] aboyandhiscar 2017-07-02 11:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah? Huh, well I do like using junk. . .[Demyx is talking to someone who regularly scavenges junkyards. He seems to light up thinking of something to do with this.]

Why don't we build something? Like a sculpture or some kinda alarm, heck, even a robot--I'd say car, buuut not enough parts here, heh!
arpeggiositar: (3)

[personal profile] arpeggiositar 2017-07-06 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
A robot would be good. Something like that Wally square robot that's roaming around. I bet it'd like another robot around here.

[Do you have experience with robotics, Mike?]
aboyandhiscar: (wink wink nudge nudge)

[personal profile] aboyandhiscar 2017-07-07 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
[he has experience BLOWING THEM UP...but if he can build a car he can build something close.ish.]

Dude, I didn't even think of that! Yeah, the little guy could use some company. We just gotta retool this stuff and it'll be good to go. I mean, we've got nothing for an AI, but it'll be fine.
arpeggiositar: (6)

[personal profile] arpeggiositar 2017-07-07 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
I haven't ever built something like this, so you'll have to show me. It's fair trade. I gave you a music lesson, you give me this. How about it?
aboyandhiscar: (keep it in mind)

[personal profile] aboyandhiscar 2017-07-07 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
Iiii think I can roll with that. We've got everything we need here, so let's get to it.

Wheels, a base, and a face. Those are the basics, so go with whatever you think fits for it. [what remains of the drums might make decent wheels, for example.]
arpeggiositar: (3)

[personal profile] arpeggiositar 2017-07-07 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, a body or a base. That shouldn't be too hard. [Tying a couple xilophones together with strings doesn't take long] There we go! This should be sturdy enough -- or at least it'll be strong enough to last a few days. That'll work.
aboyandhiscar: (hello friend!!!)

[personal profile] aboyandhiscar 2017-07-07 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, YEAH, now you're getting it! [Mike's gonna slam stick those drums to the side of them. Look, it's standing up. . .ish, now!! ] Okay, now something for the head. . .and I guess some arms won't hurt either!
