[Karolina and Mulan are dead. The first, and hopefully the last, deaths of your stay here. Hopefully their deaths won't be in vain. Your third week here starts on a solemn note, and the mood here has taken on a significant downward spiral. If it's any consolation (it isn't), you'll find that you have two new floors to explore...even if one of those floors has about twenty STAY OUT signs nailed to it.

[Mike's eyes go wide at that, blinking in surprise, before they narrow, getting a bit more serious now. ]

I mean, does seem like they turned off Karolina's space powers. You think something tripped up Mulan?

Yeah. I do. I think they made sure someone got hurt by someone else. So I thought maybe they made Mulan slip...

I'm on board with this with you now, but dunno if there's anyway to really prove that. You can't sniff out ghost tracks. I think. [Can she???] Though if they spilled some oil or something, maybe traces of that would be around.

They said there are rules, but I'm not convinced they're going to follow them.

I thought maybe there would be some loose ground here, or something in the way, or like you said a spill... anything.

But if it was here, it's gone now.

Yeeeah, they don't strike me as the fair type.

[He looks to the floor, tapping a foot. Nothing looks off. . .]

Hooboy. Who knows, if there was something, we might have accidentally cleaned it up already, or if there was tampering, the ghosties could have covered their tracks while we slept.

Still! S'good thought. Crossing my fingers it doesn't happen again, but. . .if so, you know what to look out for now.

Look less and less like it by the day.

[She growls softly in frustration, ears flicking.]

I think you're right. If anything was here, it's gone now. I needed to look, though.

[Sigh.]

No matter how much we don't want it to happen again, we are the victims here, and our captors want it to happen just as much.

[Mike lets out a huff, and stands back up, leaning on the counter.]

We're pretty much at their disposal here. Keep this on the downlow, but. . .as much as I wanna make sure we all make it out, I dunno. If the our hosts want to make something happen, well. Pretty familiar with types who like to shove their influence on folks.

[She flops her butt down in resignation, and sighs.]

I have to believe there's a way out of this. That things will be okay. [That's just who she is.] But our... hosts... have clearly proven to me that they can take what they want.

I hate to admit it but we have to play this subtle.

Have you tried talking to our host? Dude's sketch but I gotta admit, I'm curious about him.

No. I don't really want to, but that might be the best plan at this point. Have you?

Not yet. He's kind of a jerk, but he did kinda imply he might tell us something later on.

But yeah, our first day here? He sounded like. . .I dunno, like he had more he wanted to tell us, but couldn't. Not yet anyway.

I don't trust him. Folks can be really convincing, if they want to be... but I should give him some benefit of the doubt.

Maybe I'll contact him either way.

Oh, you don't have to give him any benefit. Definitely still be suspicious--he's helping whoever's in charge here, after all.

But if he's gonna use us, we might as well use him, too.

That's kind of a sinister way of thinking of it.

[Painfully practical, but a little too cold for her comfort.]

But if he has information that can help or save us, we should at least attempt to get him to share it.

Iii've had a lot of experience with this kinda stuff, is all. [He shrugs!! Who keeps trusting people and then almost dying? This guuuuy.]

I agree, just--if he really wants to help us, great. But don't let your guard down.
