Well alright, so. You have a rainy season and a dry season, right? [Hopefully the small amount he knows about ecology in Africa won't fail him now.] Every time the rainy season comes around again, it's been what humans call a year. And we divide that year up into twelve different sections instead of just a couple of seasons, and July's one of those. Followin' so far?

Mmhm. And on that day a long time ago for the people that live where I live an important thing happened, so we celebrate it that day every year now. To remember.
