It's all happened before...
[You wake up in a plush bed, well rested but very confused. As you become more conscious, one thing becomes abundantly clear: this is not your room, nor does this look like any bedroom you’ve ever been in before. It’s relatively clean room, but immediately something feels… off about all of this.
When you start exploring, a thing you’ll soon notice is that on the bedside table, there is a room key sitting ontop of a neatly typed note.]
Dear hotel guests,
We cordially invite you to come to the downstairs library at noon for an important meeting regarding your stay in the Hollywood Tower Hotel. Before then, we invite you to make full use of the amenities this hotel has provided for you.
On behalf of the hotel staff, we dearly hope you enjoy your stay in this marvelous hotel.
-HTH Management
[But, as you leave the comfort of your new bedroom, any hope that you somehow booked a hotel room the previous night and just forgot is immediately dashed. It looks like this hotel hasn’t been cleaned in decades, and despite the mention of hotel staff in your note, there doesn’t appear to be anyone working here.
Not to say that you’re alone, however. As you explore the hotel, you’ll soon find that there are 23 others in the exact same situation as you: confused and with no memory of how they got here. And to make matters worse, if the bios you stumble upon in the dining area is anything to go by, this clearly isn't just a freak accident.
Get comfy, because you are all in for a wild ride.]

a lot.
She lets out a frightened squeak as a mass of black tentacles begins to bulge out of the door, both hands clapped over her mouth.]
—What is that?
no subject
You!
[ She points a red-varnished nail at Belle, almost accusingly. Boy, she is not in the mood for little girls right now... but that's her bread and butter client base.
Her expression warps from furious to a smile that's still too full of teeth, crooking her finger beckoningly. Her tone becomes velvety. ]
Come here, my child! Such a sweet face! Surely you aren't responsible for my being here...
[ Though recent events have made her uncertain about what a girl her age could do, the fact that she's human yet one more factor to keep her gaze wary. ]
no subject
N-no...I'm here just as much by accident as you are, I can assure you...
[Perhaps she's being too judgmental. Clearly this woman is just...confused? Bewildered? Just like she is.]
no subject
Do you recognize this place? Or have any knowledge of who may be 'hosting' us?
no subject
I'm so sorry, but I don't. I just woke up here, too...the note in my room made mention of some sort of staff. Perhaps they can give us answers?
no subject
[ Clearly the land-dweller ought to know. ]

[ She claps her hands, gently. This girl knows nothing more than she does, apparently. ]
Here we are, then, the blind leading the blind!
[ She extends her hand. ]
Bonjour. Je m'appelle Ursula.
no subject
[Cautiously, Belle reaches out to take that hand, forcing herself to smile. It's at least nice to hear a few words of her own language.]
Ursula. And I'm Belle.
no subject
Of course you are.
Belle, have you been to the library yet?
I've heard of such places, but believe it or not, they're a bit of a novelty to be had at the bottom of the sea.
no subject
No! I haven't looked around much...there's really a library here?
no subject
[ Ursula reaches right into the top of her pseudo-dress, producing a folded and saturated piece of paper, which she unfolds.
It's the letter that had been sitting in each of their rooms. Ursula leans down so Belle can study it herself, tracing one inky line with her nail. ]
"We cordially invite you to come to the downstairs library at noon for an important meeting regarding your stay"
Not that I know how anyone could tell when noon was in this hovel. There's nowhere to see the sun!
no subject
Right, of course—I read that, but I was so surprised by waking up somewhere unfamiliar that it didn't really register.
It reminds me a bit of...of my home. It was winter all the time. Sometimes it seemed cold and dreary, but sometimes...it was beautiful.
no subject
[ She detests this girl, definitely.
Still, Ursula keeps up the facade of friendliness. ]
Though I do wonder, why not simply go where it's warmer? It doesn't sound as if you particularly like the cold.
no subject
I don't Not all the time. But the truth is...I couldn't leave. And then by the time I could, I only wanted to go back.
