SECOND TRIAL

[When the investigation is done, the door to the boiler room once again opens, with the elevator doors readily awaiting the remaining guests. Like last time, once everyone is buckled in, the elevator moves backwards and then up, with The Narrator’s voice echoing in.]

Dipper and Merlin, despite their age difference, had a lot in common. They both are fascinated in science, the unusual, and an escape out. Last night, they decided to stay up late, only to both find out that they are forever in an eternal slumber. And they’ll soon learn that they’ll be stuck in a never ending nightmare called… The Twilight Zone.

[Once again the elevator stops abruptly.]

You are about to discover what lies beyond the fifth dimension. Beyond the deepest, darkest corner of the imagination… in the Tower of Terror.

[Did you expect the elevator not to drop again? Because too bad, the elevator drops again. After a few more drops, it once again stops at the top floor, The Tip Top Club.

The soft music fills the room and the Tip Top Club looks almost the same as it was last week. Except now Preston, Finnick, Merlin, and Dipper’s pictures on the wall are also in grayscale. The Narrator is still sitting on the stage, but he is now sitting in the chair like a normal human being. In his hands there is the all-too-familiar Talky Tina, that The Narrator is thoughtfully looking over. When the guests enter the club, he finally looks up.]

Welcome again to the trial room, everyone. I hope you remember all the rules from last week, but if you need a refresher I may explain the rules again.

Frankly, yes! If you ask me, she's a way more likely candidate than either of them! They both had kids they were looking out for back at home. They wouldn't kill another one just to get out of here- I know they wouldn't!

Okay, then if we're supposed to believe neither of them did it - how can we find who did, huh?!

If Goofy didn't, then he still left Dipper in the water, and I had to pull him out with Tadashi! Maybe he didn't drown him, but just leaving him there!?

I-- I don't know, alright?! Even if he shouldn't have just left Dipper there, that isn't enough to execute him over! There must be something we're missing. There has to be!

[deep breath, and he turns to Goofy]

If it turns out you didn't do it, then I'm still gonna be mad at you for that, just so you know! You've got a son- well, Dipper was someone's son! And you just...just left him!

It's sure convenient Merlin isn't around to defend himself! He probably saw the murder happen and got killed just for that!

. . . I think the question to be asking here is what was Dipper doing?

[Because the way the hat was . . . She's not entirely sure it fell off while he was being pushed.]

...The kid was very into investigating. Maybe he was looking around.

Yeah, but the pool? It's not all that interesting.

His journal... it was in the ballroom. [She gently sets it down on the table in front of her.]

I didn't notice anything pool related in it. There are some interesting bookmarks in here, though.

No, I . . . found his hat, but it looked like he took it off, maybe. It was outside the pool, so I don't think it dropped in a struggle.
