THIRD TRIAL

[This is all becoming routine now, to the point that maybe the thought of the elevator dropping suddenly doesn’t bother you. Or maybe you’re just so numb to four people dying already that the thought of dropping isn’t as bad.

Or heck, maybe you’re still dreading the drop, who knows?]

Submitted for your approval, Amanda and Thalia. Two girls who deal daily outside the normal world. They’ve dealt daily with fighting dangerous beings, only to have been struck down suddenly by the mortal coil. For even experience with these terrors couldn’t prepare these two young warriors for the kind of terror one finds… The Twilight Zone.

[And there’s the drop again. At least this is the norm now, and at least once it’s finally done you get access to that sweet open bar.

The Tip Top Club, is, like, usual, the same except the new grayscale pictures of Goofy, Roxanne, Stitch, Amanda, and Thalia. The Narrator is in his usual spot, but it seems like he’s spacing out a little. He does acknowledge the guests once they enter, at least.]

Take as much time as you need. I’ll be quiet this week.

[Have fun, everyone.]

Thalia did have a habit of throwing a little food into the fire after each trial...as an offering. A prayer.

[She knits her brows.]

It makes me think someone was trying to be...respectful, in some strange way.

Well, she had a coin in her mouth and a weird shield on her. I think you might be right.

The shield... [She remembers seeing it, the few times she tore her eyes from Thalia's face.] That wasn't part of her ritual, was it?

-- The coin and the food you could maybe pick up from just being around Thalia, but the shield sounds new. The killer thought that up themselves.

Unless... Thalia could've-- maybe she told someone this was what she would want. I don't want to think that she planned this, but...

So, she spent her dying breath telling he murderer exactly how she wanted to be memorialized instead of, I don't know, writing an incriminating letter in her own blood...
nocasetoobig: (that you're not here)

[personal profile] nocasetoobig 2017-10-28 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)
...maybe she'd mentioned it to the murderer before they became a murderer. Maybe they were really good friends.

I don't...[mmmmm] Would any of Thalia's close friends do that?
audentiae: (so nothing's left untouched)

The shield was Thalia's. It's from home.

If it was hers then maybe she was the one who brought it, instead of the killer leaving it with her.
nocasetoobig: (what happened to you?)

[personal profile] nocasetoobig 2017-10-28 04:46 pm (UTC)(link)
But why would the killer leave it on her like that? [skeptical chipmunk is skeptical]

Maybe they left it as a respectful act to the dead. Or... they just dropped it on her and fled.
