Week 5

[Five deaths in one week, and almost half of the guests have died now. The Narrator is now claiming that the man who's trying to save all the guests is a cold-hearted killer, and he doesn't seem to be lying about this. But on the other hand, that doesn't explain why he continues to do any of this, or if he's even an entirely good guy here.

Whether you like it or not, tension is becoming unusually high in this hotel now.

But hey, at least you get a nice new floor to tide you over.

[Joshua plays a few random bits of different tunes before he speaks.]

For some, that doesn't really matter. It's simply about enjoying the moment when playing music.

Good point. I guess that's true with anything...as long as you enjoy doing it, it doesn't matter how good you are at it.

[He plucks a few strings on the lute. What is he even doing?]

Unless you're trying to make money. Then you might want some actual skill.

Then yes, you absolutely need to have skill in that regard.

[For a moment, Joshua simply looks at the piano keys in front of him. Then he takes a breath, and begins to play something a little faster in pace.]

[tadaishi]

[This one's nice to listen to.]

Hey, you are pretty good.

[lusito]

I should certainly hope so, given the amount of time I spent learning how to play.

[That said, he seems... brighter somehow? Almost glowing, even, with pride perhaps as he continues to play here.]

[tadaishi]

[Thaat's sort of cool. Tadashi absently plucks at the lute strings as Joshua plays. Not trying to accompany him in any way, just messing with the instrument so he's not just standing there awkwardly.]

Hey, Joshua...sort of unrelated but...how old are you? You seem older than the 15 or 16 you look like.

[lusito]

Oh? It looks like I have to give you some credit for being more perceptive than I originally thought.

[Though, if anything, Joshua appears to be rather amused at this line of inquiry.]

But yes, you would be correct. [There's a pause though, as he seems to be debating how to answer this.] I'm not fifteen, but I can't say for certain just how old I should actually be by now. At first I counted out those years, but then eventually I stopped keeping track of such things. Such is the life of an immortal being, I'm afraid.

Admittedly, I'm not as perceptive as I should be, sometimes.

[He laughs a little at that., even if it is a jab at himself.

At the mention of not keeping track of the years anymore, Tadashi lets out a low whistle..]

Wow, I wouldn't have pegged you for immortal, just young-looking. But thanks for clearing that up [sorta] and sorry it came out of the blue.

It's nothing to apologize for. You're not the first person here who has asked about it.

[of course, the first person who did ask is now dead...]

[tadaishi]

[Okay that doesn't bode well.]

Aw, who beat me to it?

[lusito]

Thalia, actually.

[Which, might be why the piano music has stopped, Joshua simply resting his hands on the keys for now.]

[tadaishi]

...Oh. That sort of makes sense.

[Since she was semi-divine...something like that.]

[lusito]

Indeed.

[There's a pause as he moves his fingers across the keys, but not actually pressing down any of them in song yet.]

That said, I never really did get to talk about it much with her, aside from making fun of my diet of coffee and ramen due to how rarely I would eat before I came here.

[tadaishi]

[Pfft.]

That's a terrible diet; I'd have to agree with her. I've seen worse, though--I'm pretty sure my brother would find a way to survive only on gummy candy and buffalo wings if we let him.

Now I'm pretty sure that might make someone sick after a while, wouldn't it?

[tadaishi]

Most likely. He's never tried it yet, so I hope I don't find out. I have a feeling he'd get bored before he got sick.
