Week 6

[Another week another set of bodies, and now, the guests aren't the only ones dying in this hotel. At this point it seems as though something is attacking the nonguests of this hotel. What's attacking them, however, no one seems to know. But surely you can all find out before more people die, right?

No new floors open up this week, but people will find on Sunday that the locked door on the first floor is now unlocked. It's a good time as any to see what's behind it.

[shakes head, gestures at their burned surroundings.]

I was the one who lit the candle, knowing that without Rod around, they'd be trapped here with us. If they hadn't been here, they wouldn't have died so horribly...

[Hoo boy. Chip shakes his head at that, making a face]

No way! Someone had to light the fire, didn't they?

There wouldn't have been any witches for the witch-burner to burn if they hadn't been here! Everybody told me not to, but I just did it anyway...

[slumps] I keep writing checks my butt can't cash. And now three awful but blameless people are just ashes on the floor. Grandma Aggie would be ashamed if she saw how badly I'd messed things up here...

Hey! [He whaps her leg lightly with a paw] We all make mistakes, but that doesn't mean we're responsible for that!

[Just gonna scurry around to the front, now]

Didn't they say they could get out of here at any time?

That was clearly a lie. They probably just didn't want to admit it. Pride is kind of a Thing for witches, if you haven't caught on yet.

Maybe, but that doesn't mean that it should get you killed!

[HE MAY HAVE NOTICED but also noticed that Ursula gave it to her. He's...not about to bring it up. Not right now.]

Just look at Kylo- he was so mad, he didn't let things take care of themselves. If he'd just have waited-! I don't blame him, you saw how mad I was, but I'd probably have been smooshed if you hadn't stopped me!

The only one we need to get mad at is whoever brought us all here. And when we get out, we'll show them, right before we go rescue our friends!

Being burned at the stake is... really, really not something I've ever had to consider anymore. And whoever did this could pop out of the wall at any point and decide, hey, let's just finish off all the witches while we're at it. And that's me and Blondie up in smoke. [SHOULD REALLY. LEARN THAT GIRL'S NAME AT ONE POINT.] I'd rather have one of you guys murder me than that. It probably wouldn't be that bad...

[ugh. morbid. she sounds like Donald.]

I'm mad at everyone. [rod. john. ursula. merlin.] I'm just really, really mad at me right now.

[fUCKING EXCUSE YOU, MARNIE. Nobody should talk like that, much less a thirteen year old. Chip's visibly disturbed, but swallows it down, huffing a little]

Now you listen to me! There's nothing wrong with being mad. But there's something very wrong with thinking that you should just give in to things. I know it looks hopeless, but- think of how mad you'd be if you gave up, and then it turned out there was a way through this!

I mean, I'm not giving into being burned to death. I'm completely committed to not doing that.

[pause]

If it's you this week. Or Oswald. Or Donald. Or Sally. I'm running out of reasons to keep going that aren't wanting to punch Rod in the face.

Well, then we need to find you a reason. [He slaps a fist in to his palm]< I promised Reyna I'd get her and Thalia out of the underworld, and I'd do it for Belle, too - and you! All of us! And I bet your magic could sure be a big help!

If- if something happened to me. You gotta help us get out, okay?

[hallotween]

My magic? Chip, I was barely a real witch for a whole day before I got here! Merlin and Ursula, the sisters, they were all powerful magic users their whole lives! Why are they all gone, and me, who can barely even string a spell together, I'm still here, to be useless?

It's a joke. It's all a big, sick joke.

Because you're not useless!

Name one thing I've actually managed to do besides lock everybody in a room and indirectly kill three people. Just one.

[nocasetoobig]

You...made me clothing.

[hallotween]

[she's quiet for a short while, just staring at him. thinking about it.]

... I guess I did do that. [she's not really sure what to say about it.] It's kinda nice, when we match. It's like those dolls you can buy special outfits to match with.

...I guess.

[He's quiet for a moment...and then takes a breath]

Maybe it's different in Mousedon, or wherever Ratigan's from. Or where Donald is. But it's...it's really hard for people like me to find clothing, where I'm from. [He looks up, pulling off his hat] I only have this because it shrunk in a wash bucket, and this? [He tugs at his coat] Action figure, when Dale and I were stuck in a toy store. Sometimes we find other things, like costumes or disguises, sometimes we make them, but you guys-!

[He gestures at her. All of her.]

You humans have the means to really...look however you want! And be whatever you want. It's not like there's a lot of competition to be a Rescue Ranger, Marnie. [Chip makes a little wry smile] I mean, there's a few other groups, but most animals are just happy to...well, be animals!

And...there's nothing wrong with that! Don't get me wrong. People can be how they want to be, no matter what species they are! But...they're still stuck by species, sometimes. And some species...have a hard time seeing other species as anything but animals.

[Eg; humans. To chipmunks.]

So when people here started treating me...well, like people, I really didn't expect it! And when everybody got so confused as to why I wore the same things all the time...well, that's normal to me! And then you and Thalia helped me find other things, and I...I don't really know where I'm going with this. [Maybe he should shut up.]

[hallotween]

[she listens to the monologue, and slightly grins at the end.] No, I think I get you.

... Despite everything that's happened already, and whatever is gonna happen next, I'm really, really glad I met you. I just wish meeting new and interesting people didn't always have to mean someone dies.

[nocasetoobig]

...I'm glad I met you too, Marnie. [does he want to know what she means by 'always', though...] And everyone else. You guys...well, most of you guys are great.

[hallotween]

[her first almost-kiss directly followed a man exploding into light.]

It's good to have moments like this. Before it all starts up again and we're at each other's throats.
