[A whole week has come and gone. To the who, unknown to all the guests, are currently watching this, they would know by now that things are about to get much worse from here. However, to the guests, this might seem like a good sign. Even with all the questionable people already debating murder (I'm looking at you Hiro), no one has done it yet. Maybe everyone can find a way out of here without resorting to violence and murder?

[Leia glances around for a moment for the source of the voice, and then finally glances upward and spies the rat perched atop the fridge.]

That's normal, where you come from? Are the Banthas ill?

[Leia you're not making any sense.]

Banth--what?

[Right, uh, different places around the world. Maybe Banthas means 'cow' in her language]

Of course it's normal, cows are...that's just how milk is. How else is it supposed to look like?

[This is the most confused he has been in a while, yep]

[The word is foreign to her, feels weird on her tongue.]

Let me back up. In my galaxy, we drink milk from Banthas, mostly. It's blue. There are other species that produce green milk, but blue's the most common.

...I think...I'd be very alarmed if milk was green. That's just not good. Blue is fine, if blue cheese is any indication.

[But he's pretty sure blue cheese is because of fungus, not because of...Banthas]

Anyway, you won't find anything blue here! Seeing green or blue stuff on food is usually a sign of mold, and nobody wants to eat a bunch of mold.

I suppose what's normal to me and what's normal to you are very different things, in that case. We have technology to keep our food going bad, too.

[She cocks her head.]

Is it normal for your kind to be so knowledgeable about the culinary world?

We do too! Uh, humans do. Most rats don't care much about...the state of food as long as it's not poisoned. [He sounds rather embarrassed about that] So I'd say I'm...pretty much the only rat who knows about this kind of stuff...

Huh. [you don't say!!] That must make you a very special rat indeed.

I'm not really anything special, I just wanted to do more than other rats do. You understand that, right?

...You know, I do. There's nothing wrong with wanting to make a change. To put something good out into the world and hope it sticks.

[Rémy nods with enthusiasm. Of course a human would know such a human feeling!]

Have you done anything like that? Like trying to leave your mark in the world?

I have. I've tried. Succeeded sometimes, other times...well, that remains to be seen.

Don't generals win all the time?

That'd leave your mark, I think.

Rarely all the time. Even with a full-sized legion of soldiers, the best general doesn't win every battle.

[She gives him a thin smile.] And I'm afraid I don't even have that anymore.

But you dismantled an empire! That shows you're pretty good as a general, I'd say.

[That's what the bio said, and it seems the bios are generally correct. He also links the part about not having that anymore with the part about her hard-won peace being torn apart. That's likely to be a touchy topic, so Rémy sidesteps it, instead trying to focus on something slightly more positive]

I don't know what happened, but you seem reliable. Kind of like Dad, just that you're less stern. Whatever happened doesn't have to be the end of the road, there must be people who'd be willing to help you.

[His positivity doesn't go unappreciated; she smiles at Remy, inclining her head graciously.]

I appreciate that. I still have hope that those people are out there, no matter how distant it all seems right now.

If they know where you are, they could even try to rescue us.

[A second passes before Rémy hides his face behind the top of the fridge]

What am I saying, it won't be that simple

[Looks like he's aware he's stretching the positivity a bit. He does mean what he says, but there's a point where it starts sounding fake and he's sure he just flew over that line]

Be that as it may, I'm not averse to positive thinking.

I guess I'm trying to see the positive side to everything these days. Being trapped here has me on edge, so...this is kind of keeping me from panicking.

Well, then, I can hardly blame you for looking on the bright side. I think that's a good coping mechanism, myself.

You seem to be taking this whole thing pretty well...

[Maybe he shouldn't be surprised about that, now that he thinks about it -- she looks like the type to have nerves of steel]
