[Well, someone took the bait last week, and now two people (if either of them could really be called a person) are dead. Not only that, it seems like your first host is now out of commission and replaced by someone who claims to be The Phantom. While he may not be incredibly worse than Facilier yet, it would be a stretch to say he's an improvement.

But, things aren't all bad! When the guests wake up on Sunday, they will find the stairs in the foyer are now open, leading to a whole new floor to explore!

And there's booze so no one will have to drink vinegar anymore.

[He's going to reach for it, but not grab it until Hiro says he can or not.]

[Hiro kind of pushes it closer, because he's busy trying to reassemble his map of the first floor.]

But now he's more interested in Hiro's map.]

As close as I could get it. It's based on my shoes, so it's not as exact as if I had real measuring tools.

Shoes count as a measuring tool. Here, anyway. Since we're kinda lacking in everything useful.

[Except food and separate bedrooms.]

I also didn't map anyone's rooms. [Which is true. He's drawn what he assumes the shape of each individual room is, but his room is the only one with any detail beyond where the door is located.] That would have been a little weird?

Yeah, it would.

I think they're all the same. I've only been in mine and Ariel's, but they're identical.

I kinda figured, but that's good to know. Makes me wonder if this was some kind of hotel or something - it's kind of weird to have thirty identical rooms, isn't it?

A hotel would make sense. Isn't this supposed to be someone's mansion? I've never heard of a mansion with that many bedrooms, identical or not.

[Maybe a castle.]

Yeah, I mean. I guess we could be in the servant quarters, but who has that many servants?

[This house is not that big. Or is it?]

Someone super important?

[Maybe Facilier? That was a non-answer, he's got nothing.]

The area could've been an addition just for us, but then it'd be newer and not dilapidated like the rest of the place.

. . . You know, what if this whole place was built for us? [He writes "possibly a built space?" on one of the map's edges.] The walls are surprisingly sturdy for something that's supposedly old and run down - what if it was just built to look that way?

So...like some sort of prison? Or a really terrible reality TV show?

Reality TV show, I think. Jane reminded me the other day, but this whole thing is kind of suspiciously Battle Royale. You know what I mean?

[He just kind of assumes Neku will know, because Neku is also Japanese.]

[There are certainly enough kids for it.]

...The book or the movie? I know what you mean, though...it fits well enough.

[Except for the reality TV show part.]

You think they'll kill us directly if we manage to avoid playing the game long enough?

Is there a lot of difference? I only saw the movie. [Books??? Reading???? Who has time for that when you could be building robots.] I don't know if they'd kill us directly, but I think they might do something that would result in us all being dead.

[Like . . . say . . . release a monster or something.]

Beats me. I've never seen the movie, so I don't know if there are any differences.

[Reading is good, Hiro. Robots are also cool, but manga also has robots.]

Like the curses.

Something like that, yeah. I was trying to figure out why they didn't hand us weapons and tell us whoever was left standing could go home, you know? That seems way more effective than this, but the desperation might be important for the ritual.

[But he has . . . no idea, really. This is kind of beyond his area of expertise.]

[It's likely beyond anyone's level of expertise besides maybe Freddie. Or Mim, but she's kind of gone.]

Desperation probably makes it more interesting for whoever's in charge.

[Assuming reality television. There's an annoyed tone here and an eyeroll, like he's dealt with something similar.]

Yeah. I'm not a fan either.

[Hiro sure agrees with that sentiment. He sure . . . wrote Woody's name down in blood without thinking too hard and now it's sunk in and y i k e s.

Perils of acting first and thinking later, maybe.]

I'm definitely smuggling in a pen if that happens again. I mean, the whole thing.

[Or just keeping a pen in his pocket at all times, that sounds like a good idea as well. Just in case.]
