Week 5

[...So that was a mess. All of it was a mess, and things don't look to be improving any time soon. With tensions at an all-time high and conditions worsened, it seems pretty safe to say that this whole week promises a great deal of foreboding atmosphere.

But, hey, things aren't entirely bad. Just as Randall promised, you're now able to leave the Manor! 

Just don't stay out there for too long. There's still a lot of you, and you just can't afford to lose numbers.

[ Oh... A mention of Mr. Arrow gets her shoulders to droop a little. ]

I, uh, yeah. It's- have you? It's not really a fun place.

Uh...yeah. It's--It just made me realize...we haven't seen the sun for weeks. We might not ever again.

[He lets out a forced laugh.] Here we are, in danger of being murdered at any minute, and I'm worried about seein' the goddamn sun. What's that say 'bout me?

[ She shakes her head emphatically. ] It means you're sad, Lou. I...miss seeing flowers, and smelling the fresh air. It's not all I miss, but seeing the big black...ick out there? It was really disheartening.

[bayoublues]

Well, that's certainly something I didn't know!

[His response is uncharacteristically harsh. He winces as the words are leaving his mouth.]

Sorry. Shouldn't have said that--you don't deserve that. Maybe I should just...play some music or something, try and cheer myself up.

[ He's not the only one who winces. ]

N-no... No, I don't want you to just...go off somewhere and be depressed.

[He looks at Kim for a moment, puzzled.]

You...you want me to stop walkin' around like a fool.

[how else is he supposed to cope???]

No, silly. I don't want you to be alone.

Oh. That makes more sense. Hah.

[He considers this, briefly.]

Guess you can't exactly mope for long when you're with your friends, huh? [Everyone else is probably just as sad--if not more upset--than Louis.

Except Negaduck. He's probably pleased everyone is suffering.]

I think...I think I better help everyone else cheer up. Or at least take their minds off of everythin' for a lil' while. Maybe a jazz concert or somethin'.

[ She offers him a small smile. ]

That's the spirit. You know- I'm not really all that great at jazz, but Freddie said she was. What if you two do something together? I think she could really use a distraction from all this too.

I...I guess. I've been wantin' to do somethin' regardin' music with her for a while. Just never got around to it. I'll ask her sometime later.

What about you, what are you gonna do? To, er...y'know. [Forget.]

Um... [ That's...a good question. She takes a moment to think about it and then- ] I'm going to draw.

[ That smile grows a bit, even though she has to force it to. ] I'll brighten this place up, somehow.

Drawing is good. Art is good. A good way to express yourself. Yes!

[Being supportive! That's how you're supposed to be friends.]

Neku tried painting the doors...twice. But that got taken down real quick. I'm sure drawin' on paper and puttin' it up is fine, though.

I know, I helped him once. If only they stuck around...

[ But it's now that she catches sight of something tied around Louis' wrist. ]

Oh. Hey- did Freddie make one of those for you too?

Oh?

[He holds up his arm to show off the charm.] Yeah! I'm real glad, too. I figure we'll need all the luck in the world to get outta here.

[His tone seems to have brightened a bit--at least he's not actively thinking about the trial anymore.]

You got one too, huh? Say, um, did she also happen to ask you for advice on a song she's writing?

[ She smiles fondly at the charm; Freddie's really trying, and honestly if anyone deserves something good after all of this? It's her.

That question, though, that catches Kim off-guard. ] No? She's writing a song?

[bayoublues]

Yeah! She's...only got one verse, but it's okay. It's for Ari--

[He stops mid-sentence and puts his hand over his mouth.]

Oh. Oh. I'm...not sure if I was supposed to say that. Oh, no.

O- o-oh! Ohh, she- and- [ Kim snaps her mouth shut. ] W-well! Um, it's fine! It's okay, I won't say a single word, if it's, uh...if it's secret.

Um, well, she didn't tell me to be quiet about it, I just--I just figured she wouldn't want people talkin' about it, y'know?

[haha at least now you know not to tell a gator any juicy secrets about anything]

Still. Um. I'd appreciate it if you didn't spread that around. She's still gotta work on it, y'know? Who knows when she'll finish?

No, I get it! Lips, sealed! Won't hear a word about it from me, no siree!

[ Nope! Nope nope nope, miming locking a key on her lips and throwing it away, yep!!! ]

Good! Great! Glad we got that figured out!

[Hahaha he's just gonna. Start backing his way out of the room.]

Oookay! I think I'm, um, gonna go and play some music for people now! To try and cheer 'em up!

Great! Cool! Glad we had this talk!

[ For a moment, she's just as awkward, but then, as he's leaving-- ]

Hey, Lou?

[Stops, foot lifted halfway off the ground.]

Yeeeeeees?

[ She offers him a sweet smile. ]

[Louis smiles and gives Kim a thumbs up.]

Of course, Kim. Same goes for you!

[He disappears into the hallway, but a few moments later, the sound of a very loud trumpet can be heard. Seems that he's cheered up a little, or is at least trying to play away his emotions.]
