Week 5

[...So that was a mess. All of it was a mess, and things don't look to be improving any time soon. With tensions at an all-time high and conditions worsened, it seems pretty safe to say that this whole week promises a great deal of foreboding atmosphere.

But, hey, things aren't entirely bad. Just as Randall promised, you're now able to leave the Manor! 

Just don't stay out there for too long. There's still a lot of you, and you just can't afford to lose numbers.

Right.. yeah.

[He's just a big worrywart Kim.. what if she's Dead by now.]

I.. I think I might have feelings for someone, and I don't know if they're legit or not or if I should even bother acting on them.

[Marco drops his gaze towards the floor, his face still a little pink from a multitude of things, now.]

I-I mean, I've never really, um.. never really thought I even liked the kind of person they are in the first place so it's really confusing. Like, super confusing.

Now, what do you mean by that? [ She finishes wrapping his finger. ] I'll get to this..."legit feelings" thing in a moment, but- what, do you usually have a different type, or...?

[Marco blurts that out, and looks as though he regrets it almost immediately afterwards.]

Kim just looks at him for a moment, blinking in confusion, mouth opening and closing slightly and.

Alright. Digest this. Okay. ]

That's... Oh. Okay, so...you've never...had a crush on a boy...before...?

[To that, Marco just shakes his head vigorously.]

I-It's not like I think it's weird or something like that I just... I dunno! It's never happened!

[He reaches up with his hands, tugging at his face a little bit with a frustrated sounding noise.]

And I dunno if he'd think it's weird so I'm freaking out, Kim! I'm freakin' out!

[ you coulda talked to any of the gays marco but instead you came to this straight(?) disaster ]

Okay. Okay, just breathe, okay? [ She tries to take Marco's hands in hers. ] One thing at a time. When did you start feeling like this, Marco?

Okay.... okay..

[Marco follows her instructions, taking a deep breath before he continues.]

I don't really know when, I-I just.. I realized last week with the karaoke stuff that I kind of feel the same way I felt around Jackie when I'm around him.

[This is Embarrassing.]

H-he was wearing some of my clothes and I literally had the thought "Wow, he looks a lot nicer in those than I do." and then we started singing Ricky Martin and Christina Aguilera and my heart was beating like, a thousand miles a minute and I was sweating a lot and--

[stop him now kim just stop him now]

Kim just. puts a finger on his lips. shh. shhhhhhh. ]

Then, Marco? That sure sounds like you like him. [ just. first of all- ] If that's what your heart's telling you, then...then you shouldn't doubt it.

[That. That gets Marco to stop and actually Think about this. She.. kind of has a point, he guesses. Maybe it's not inherently bad to fall for someone in such a high stress situation, especially after every other attempt at love was a Mess and a half and maybe it's a little weird that he ended up falling for one of the guys instead of one of the girls but.. so what, right?

Well, it's easy to just think "so what" and he'll probably be unsure about this forever but. It's not like he really wants to doubt it or anything, either.]

...should I tell him?

[That's said after he gently pulls her hand away from his face, his expression looking a little bit scared but also a little excited at the same time.]

[ It's nice to see, honestly. Marco just...keeps doubting his feelings, their legitimacy, what they mean- and it's nice to see him take a moment and accept them.

While she may not have the same exact experience with this, she does know a thing or two about, well- ]

I think...it sounds like you'd regret it, if you didn't. [ So she very gently nods. ]

And- Hiro's not the type of person to think you're weird for it, okay? Maybe things might be awkward...but he's your friend. Friends don't just drop each other, because things get weird.

[ Something she's been reminding herself of, lately. ]

[Honestly, Kim was absolutely the right person to come about this. She's very reliable and her advice has honestly lifted like, a thousand ton weight off of Marco's chest. She can practically see the relief on his face at her answer, and he gives her a small nod in reply.]

Yeah, you're right Kim.

[He looks down at his hand then, a little smile on his face as he looks over the bandages.]

I think I'll give myself a couple of days to, like, mentally prepare myself first but.. yeah. I'll do it.

I mean we only get one life, right?

[better tell him before he fucking dies]

[ Kim reaches up and ruffles his hair. She finds a stray thought wandering through her mind, if her own little brother's having difficulties like this, if he needs advice, if he's grown as tall as Marco has.

Regrets. Yeah, she really knows a lot about that. But helping the people here, her new friends...it kind of lessens the pain of them. It encourages her to fix them.

She gives him a bright smile. ]

Exactly. You go do it. And, if Hiro's any bit a jerk about it, you send him right to me and I'll give him a talking to, okay?

[Screw the light hair ruffle, Marco just goes in for a hug at Kim's words, wrapping his arms tightly around her with the happiest looking smile he's had in a while since coming here.]

Thank you so much, Kim. I really, really appreciate all you've done for me here, y'know?

[ Oh my gosh, Marco... She laughs a little and hugs him right back. ]

Don't even sweat it. We're friends. Of course I'd help you out. You guys have done a lot for me too, Marco.
