Week 5

[...So that was a mess. All of it was a mess, and things don't look to be improving any time soon. With tensions at an all-time high and conditions worsened, it seems pretty safe to say that this whole week promises a great deal of foreboding atmosphere.

But, hey, things aren't entirely bad. Just as Randall promised, you're now able to leave the Manor! 

Just don't stay out there for too long. There's still a lot of you, and you just can't afford to lose numbers.

[ Basil looks frazzled as hell when he gets to the library. He's managed to avoid the elephants so far this week, but the amount of scurrying that requires is starting to wear him down on its own. After pausing a moment to catch his breath, he notices Kim and perks up. ]

Ah, Miss Hart! If you're not too terribly busy, perhaps you might help me locate something? I'm afraid I've very little idea of what sort of titles I should be looking for in regards to the topic and... well, I can't exactly check a book's contents without knocking the entire thing off the shelf...

[ Kim sets down her pencil and siles tiredly at Basil. ]

Oh, of course. What is it you want to read about?

Ah, Facilier's head. Randy removed his vocal chords, and Miss Facilier has informed me she doesn't know of any magical fixes. I've been attempting to research, but I fear I've very little idea of what to research... there's something, surely?

...Hold on a sec, she's trying to... [ Alright. Okay. This is happening. ] Where...is it, I haven't seen Randall with it- him- Facilier lately.

He can fix this, things are salvageable. He could've started off slower, that's all. ]

I wouldn't know. Randy was being incredibly careless, so I took the opportunity to relieve him of the fellow. He really didn't [ (he definitely deserved it) ] need to deal with that, on top of everything else. And it was hardly right to allow the continued torment of his daughter. She's done nothing to deserve that.

[ Everything's happened so much and she's glad she didn't stand up yet, honestly. ]

Hoo boy. [ Hand to her head. ] I mean- I agree with you, it was just cruel to poor Freddie- and if he was still carting the...head around, I would've given him a piece of my mind, I just- wow, Basil, you stole a head!

No, but it's a head. I've lived a pretty weird few years, Basil, but no one I know has ever stolen a head before.

It's not my doing Randy couldn't be bothered to reanimate him properly in the first place.

...I wonder if it wasn't him. [ That's a strange place to go from there- ] He's told me his friend helping him with all this Hades. That guy from the Underworld? I wonder if he's the one who...you know, made Facilier all rotty.

Facilier believed Randy to be the one responsible, but that wouldn't be the first time Randy's... well, taken the liberty of neglecting to mention an important detail, shall we say. Not with us, and not even with Facilier.

[ Basil makes a mental note to ask who Hades is--in a moment, because the point is a very good lead-in. (Guess who ignored y'all's skype conferences.) ]

...Which brings up a somewhat more pragmatic note to this: Facilier is not particularly happy with his situation--that could prove advantageous to us. We need all the information we can get.

At least if they're in it together. He said they have a fifty-fifty partnership, after all, and Hades seems to be able to do things for him?

[ She shrugs a little, but... ]

We can't really get information from a guy who can't talk, though. Bringing us back to... [ vocal chords ]

Mm. You see why the issue needs addressing. [ At least the issue re:Facilier's head.

And now for the other problem! ] Who have a fifty-fifty partnership? There are three "he"s involved here. And while we're at it, I seem to have missed something important about this Hades fellow. Namely... well, everything. Who is that? When was he first brought up?

[ Ideally Basil would already know all of this, and it's rather embarrassing to admit he doesn't. Not as embarrassing as not already knowing though, so time to play catch-up. ]

Sorry, um- Hades and Randall, they're in a partnership. Hades is...he's the guy in charge of the Underworld, where all the people who died in the previous rituals are.
