[Well this is all starting to feel incredibly routine. After being trapped here for a month and a half with no sign of rescue, maybe you have just resigned to the idea that you'll never leave this place and that people will keep dying until none of you're are left.

Truthfully, I can't even pretend to make an optimistic about any of this. it's a dark and horrid world you all live in.

There are no new floors today. It seems you finally have access to the whole mansion.

[At that he laughs, pausing what he's doing.]

Calm down, ya little gremlin.

Never did one that she wore out in front of people, but... She let me practice on her a little.

[He finishes that braid down to the end, pinches the end with a pin, and then carefully winds the whole thing into a big thick braided earmuff on the side of her head. He pins it down as he goes, so that it's not moving even with her being rambunctious.

Then, pleased with that one, he starts trying to start the other side in the same place.]

[Telling Mabel to chill is like telling the sun to stop shining??? Just impossible.

Also boy it's good that Mabel's not a few more years into her teenage phase or else he'd ve getting some wiggling eyebrows right about now.]

Whoa... you're doing something really fancy, huh?

[She can't see yet, but she can feel how the weight of all that braided hair is making her head tilt just a little...]

[He hmms as he falls into the rhythm of braiding the other side.]

Princesses wear their hair like this?? Pff, you BET I wanna wear it like this!! I'll never take my hair outta these braids!

[... but one night of sleep will probably undo this pretty quick]

[He laughs.]

You'll have to ask Lei' how good a job I did.

[The second one goes a little quicker than the first, now that he's used to the weight of working with Mabel's thick, curly Pines hair, and in no time he's pinning it into an earmuff like the other side.]

There ya go, Pumpkin.

[EEEEE SHE'S SO EXCITED]

Gimme a mirror!! Or something like it! I wanna see!!

[There's probably a mirror in here, right? Right.

He finds a mirror or something like it, and holds it up for her.]

Well? How'd I do?

[She's making this exact face, and in an awed whisper she says:]

It's perfect.

[There's a beat where he's surprised. And then genuine sunshine beams proudly out of him at her praise.]
