[A week has gone buy, and nothing really horrifying has happened. Sure it's a crappy amusement park but no one's dead yet! While you're scenario is not great to be in, but you have people to bond with, "fresh air", food, and free Moron Mountain merch! So maybe you have fallen into a sense of security, content to hang out in this terrible theme park until Swackhammer decides to let you go because everyone is too boring for his park.

True enough. [Putting aside how little of the Space Jam novelization he could actually make it through reading...] It would take a remarkable level of thoughtlessness to not know what "stars" were being sent to you, and then complain when you receive them.

Someone working for him doesn't like him or doesn't like their job or both. I was hoping it was Mister King Dice, but. He said he'd fight for Mister Swackhammer if we tried escaping.

[That's okay, Remnant apparently has the cleanest-mouthed armies ever.]

Who would? [The question is practically a scoff.] That...man doesn't seem like a underling, so I'm sure he's treated better than whatever lackey Swackhammer picked for the job.

[That's...good information, though, that King Dice is that loyal. It's not like he wants to talk to him more himself, after being given his own hand.]

He did say he gets "perks", but he wouldn't say what they are. He also said he might tell us the way out if I sold him my soul, but. I wasn't going to try that.

[As Penny mentions King Dice's offer, he visibly tenses, an expression of surprise flickering across his face.]

Yes? He seemed pretty interested in it, but I told him- no.

[Technically an abbreviated version of what she told him, but still true.]

I don't think he actually could, you know, buy it, but trying seemed like a pretty bad idea.

[He shakes his head, expression settling back into his usual stony one, albeit a bit...tenser.]

Smart choice, girl. You don't want to make bargains with a creature like that.

...have you met people like him before, then? Because I've only ever heard of soul selling and that kind of thing in fairy tales.

Souls aren't something to be tampered with. I once knew a sorry man who'd been stripped of his... [r.i.p. solomon grundy, you were too pure for this world] But more to the point, anything that deals in them is dangerous and not to be trusted. My kingdom was once threatened by just such a creature.

[Even if a giant Old God can probably do a lot more damage than King Dice, it left a bad taste in his mouth.]

[It's fine, Grundy got his reward, all it took was ripping all our hearts out.]

I see. Um. I don't think I'm actually in a lot of danger on that front, but thank you, I'll keep it in mind if I have to talk to him in the future.

[It's a sour feeling, knowing what she's just told him and yet letting her continue to speak to him as she pleases, but... It isn't his business what this girl does. She can decide for herself. He answers her with a short nod.]

Just be cautious in your dealings with him. I'm sure he knows how to be persuasive when need be.
