Second Trial

[Just like last week, as soon as everyone’s done investigating and back in the stretching room, the doors close and everyone slowly descends. As it does so, the Ghost Host's voice once again echoes across the room.]

Tell me. Is this haunted room actually stretching? Or is it just your imagination?

[This is apparently a thing he does.

When it stops, everyone is once again welcomed to the graveyard 25 tombstones arranged in a circle. Now there are three new epitaphs to the newly dearly departed Mulan, Princess Anna, and Sophie. They are dressed with their own rose and class of cognac to each of their tombstone.

Here lies Ping Mulan
Wanted to do anything for honor
It’s a shame she is now a goner

Here lies Princess Anna
She stumbled upon a bride’s wedding
And earned herself a nice beheading

Here lies Sophie Hatter
She was a wonderful little maid
But sadly went and got betrayed

When everyone goes to their places, the Ghost Host speaks again.]

I suppose you all remember from last week how this works. Remember you only have one vote.

[Well there’s only one way to go now.]

[Ford's brow wrinkles.]

Might it have been used to strike the vic—Sophie?

[Remember, Ford. These were people. He can't let their names be forgotten.]
folkscallmewander: (but what about the birbs?)

[personal profile] folkscallmewander 2017-07-01 04:16 pm (UTC)(link)
It could've. Maybe they were tryin' out somethin' with one of the instruments, maybe Sophie was usin' it.

[He strokes his finger along the chipped end.] They had to be pretty strong to make a mark.

It's strange that it was chipped like that. Sophie had bruises on her arms and body...but that wouldn't cause the wood to get marked up, exactly.

Could someone have thrown it at her and missed?
terribibble: (absolutely very upsetting)

[personal profile] terribibble 2017-07-01 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Or they tried to hit her and she ducked and they got the wall.
outsidethecircle: (Uuum)

[personal profile] outsidethecircle 2017-07-01 04:37 pm (UTC)(link)
The music room was really a mess so I could believe that.
terribibble: (facial balance?)

[personal profile] terribibble 2017-07-01 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
That might've been how some of that happened. Swingin' a pool cue around's bound to knock things over.
outsidethecircle: (Egads!)

[personal profile] outsidethecircle 2017-07-01 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I... I just thought of something. I don't want to think it but could have Sophie been the one with the pool cue?
terribibble: (his face looks like a big ol bean)

[personal profile] terribibble 2017-07-01 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
[.... What the fuck why hadn't he thought of that.]

You mean you think she used it to try and fight back?
folkscallmewander: (thinking)

[personal profile] folkscallmewander 2017-07-01 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)
It's be a quick weapon, but why not somethin' from the music room? I mean, it's sad if she broke an instrument, but it's for her own safety.
outsidethecircle: (Egads!)

[personal profile] outsidethecircle 2017-07-01 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know. Maybe she thought that it might be dangerous and thought ahead?
outsidethecircle: (Egads!)

[personal profile] outsidethecircle 2017-07-01 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)
If what we were talking about the wire was right about it being the murder weapon then... why would the murderer need piano wire if they had the pool cue? If she had it just in case then it would make more sense.

[Think like a kid, Fidds!]
terribibble: (this is how i took my SATs)

[personal profile] terribibble 2017-07-01 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[No, no, he agrees.]

Well... well think about it. You get a mysterious note with no signature tellin' you to meet somewhere at night in a house where... where folks are dyin'. You're probably goin' to bring somethin' for protection, right? She could have stopped in on the billiards room first. It makes sense.
sixfingeredstan: (10)

[personal profile] sixfingeredstan 2017-07-01 04:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree. It seems feasible she would have thought to arm herself. Even if...

[Even if it was to no avail.]
terribibble: (his chin goes INSIDE him)

[personal profile] terribibble 2017-07-01 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
So... so whoever did this must be fairly strong. Or at least real good at gettin' out of the way. If she was swingin' that thing hard enough to scratch the wall, I mean.

[Right? Like... that's pretty hard. That would take down a couple people in this graveyard before they got a chance to use the wire at all.]
sixfingeredstan: (Default)

[personal profile] sixfingeredstan 2017-07-01 04:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, they'd have to be rather nimble...

[He doesn't like the connotations this has. Not one bit.]

[personal profile] outsidethecircle 2017-07-01 04:59 pm (UTC)(link)
So someone who was used to fights?

[At least that eliminates a lot of people.]
outsidethecircle: (Uuum)

[personal profile] outsidethecircle 2017-07-01 04:51 pm (UTC)(link)
That's kind of what I was thinking, yes. If it turned out that nothing was happening then she could have set it aside. I... I think Miss Hatter was pretty smart so I wouldn't put it past her.
terribibble: (are going to see this man)

[personal profile] terribibble 2017-07-01 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Right. She was probably hopin' she wouldn't have to use it at all.

[Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. You can never really trust anyone. That's just being smart.]
sixfingeredstan: (Default)

[personal profile] sixfingeredstan 2017-07-01 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Perhaps. But if they had a weapon in hand...why throw it and lose it?
outsidethecircle: (So I learned to be okay with just me)

[personal profile] outsidethecircle 2017-07-01 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I... I don't know.

[You tried, Anna.]
sixfingeredstan: (07)

[personal profile] sixfingeredstan 2017-07-01 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
We won't rule it out entirely.

[He learned his lesson about that last time.]
pardonmylanguage: (speaking)

[personal profile] pardonmylanguage 2017-07-01 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
It would be pretty awkward to throw though, right? It's not really the right shape for throwing, I think...
outsidethecircle: (Uuum)

[personal profile] outsidethecircle 2017-07-01 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Y-yes. It really isn't. I just thought that could have been the case.
pardonmylanguage: (speaking)

[personal profile] pardonmylanguage 2017-07-01 04:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah...and if she realized what was going on early and tried to run, they might have been desperate to stop her somehow. [A pause] Even if they missed, she might have been distracted or tripped...
