[Well that was a busy day, huh? But despite all that, a good majority of you are reasonable people, and are smart enough to find an escape without resorting to deadly violence. Maybe if you put your heads together, you'll find a way to get out of here! After all, the host is practically in shambles already, what can he do?

The whole first floor of the manor is open for your leasure now, with the only change being that there's now a set of rules in the foyer hanging on the wall.

We have water pumps, but this isn't exactly like that.

[He sounds a little sheepish. He's not used to feeling uneducated.]

Water pumps. [ You know, someone did this with her, recently, so- ] Hey, weird question. What year was it, last you remember?

[He names a year that is absolutely not the late 1900s. Hahaha wow would you look at that specificity (thanks Disney).]

Woo. Yeah, um...I'm from 1996? [ Awkward little grin? ] Seems we're from all over the place, and...time, here.

I had noticed we were a very, uh, varied group, but I hadn't thought...

How does that even work?

[He's a baby boy from the olden times and he doesn't understand time travel even though he kind of technically did it a little recently. He wasn't cognizant of it.]

[ ...Okay, she blows out a breath and runs a hand over her hair, trying to think of how to explain it. ]

So...in my experience? It's always been some kind of magic or uh...weird time-hole thing. They're caused by magic, usually. I think? I was never good with the science stuff. [ why is billy not here to explain things for her ] Anyway, someone - probably the gross doctor - snatched us up and popped us here...whatever time this is?

Huh.

[Eloquent. Regal.]

Magic... makes sense. I mean it doesn't make sense at all, which is why it's probably the best explanation.

[ A little shrug. ]

Part magic, part science-y stuff. I don't completely understand either of them, but between the two...sometimes you just fall through a time hole or two.

I guess you just do.

[Why is his life this way now. He never should have let his dad and the Grand Duke bully him into letting that ball happen (no, no, he doesn't mean that, he loves Cinderella very much and it was absolutely a net positive for his life).]

I've only very recently started dealing with magic first-hand so I think I understand it even less than some people.

[Like Jane, who had that whole adventure.]

But I sure have seen enough of it to know it works.

[ oh my god you BETTER not regret something as romantic as that, if she finds out about that she will gush at him, so much, and then aggressively forget about her own relationship problems i mean what??

Anyway, is his poor jacket good now? Is his poor hand?

A light laugh. ] It works however it wants to work, that's as much as I've figured out. And it never seems to be done with you.

[Well it's still kinda angry with him, but the cooler water helped quite a lot and his sleeve is quite a bit less eggy. So... yeah, he's good. Hasn't succeeded in making food, but you know what, still fine.]

[If only he knew what was going to happen to him next Tuesday.]

So once it starts it just doesn't stop? It already almost ruined my wedding, and now... this.

Oh! You're married? Gosh, but you look...like, not that much older than me. I guess that was normal, way back when...

[ Please excuse her, she hasn't read the bios in-depth. ]

Um, I mean...yeah, kinda. I thought I was done with that stuff, but apparently not.

[It is so weird to hear the time he's from described as 'way back when'. It makes him feel very old, despite being Very Not. He's only twenty!]

That's... that's funny. Back home my dad was so desperate to get me married he threw a ball and invited every girl in the kingdom just to get me to pick one.

[He thought it was nuts then and it still does sound kind of nuts now.]

[ Yeah buddy it's absolutely nuts. ]

Talk about a hover-parent. Couldn't he have just...I don't know, encouraged you to go on dates? It's your own life and you should have the final say, but that'd be better than a whole ball?

[holdthetrumpet]

[He almost says something about 'hover parent' but, like. Thinking about his dad? That's just about right. Not that he doesn't love his dad a whole lot -- he has a pretty good relationship with him, actually -- but sometimes the king gets an idea in his head and just will not let it go.]

It's a complicated thing. A prince doesn't just 'go on dates'.

[I mean, they do, but they're like... chaperoned walks around the garden and it's always with, like, moneyed young ladies of standing that are very nice but just not your type and it's awkward and uncomfortable and he hated doing it. A ball was better in a lot of respects, even if it was worse in others.]

And it did work so, hey, no harm done?
