[Well that was a busy day, huh? But despite all that, a good majority of you are reasonable people, and are smart enough to find an escape without resorting to deadly violence. Maybe if you put your heads together, you'll find a way to get out of here! After all, the host is practically in shambles already, what can he do?

The whole first floor of the manor is open for your leasure now, with the only change being that there's now a set of rules in the foyer hanging on the wall.

[ He bows, and then straightens, leaning jauntily against the wall. ]

You know, I'm something of a leader myself, in Villeneuve.

Oh? Do tell me more, Sir.

[ Oh he will. Gaston's favorite thing to talk about is himself. He takes a breath, putting on a mock-casual, not-quite-self-deprecating air. ]

I was a soldier, in the war. [ You know. The war. ] Something of a war hero, I suppose.

And when I returned home, well. You know these small-town people. They needed someone to look up to! Someone to show them what life is really like. What they could be!

[ He shrugs his shoulders, an exaggerated motion. ]

They chose me.

A veteran, excuse me for my disrespect-

[He removes his hat in respect and salutes him.]

A man of the people, I see. A natural leader...it's an honor to meet you, sir.

[He offers his hand- wing- out to him.]

[ Gaston smiles magnanimously. ]

Think nothing of it, my friend.

[ He takes the - er - wing - and shakes it gingerly. ]

I'm surprised you're not a soldier yourself. Someone so...disciplined...[ His gaze wanders back to the rules addendum. ]

[He glows a little at the compliment.]

Well, a naval officer is rather similar is it not?

A Naval officer!

[ Time for Gaston to salute right back. ]

I had no idea!

[His opinion of the man's intellect slips a little. He would've thought the outfit would've made it clear. Perhaps they're much different in France.

Thank you, Sir. I can't speak for great accomplishments like you can, though.

[ Perhaps Gaston never bothered to take note of anyone's uniform except his own. ]

Oh, I'm sure you've been party to a minor victory or two.

[ Probably. Maybe not. He is a giant talking bird. ]

Anyway, we can't all be heroes, can we?

Certainly not sir. Why, it'd only serve to devalue the accomplishments of those like you.

Let us hope there aren't any opportunities for acts of heroism any time soon.
