[Well... That sure did happen. After Swackhammer is done ranting about his terrible group of hostages, everyone is free to explore the surrounding area. But true to his word, it still seems to be heavily under construction, and any areas not on the map are surrounded by giant walls. Have fun with your two small areas of Moron Mountain (just be thankful you have clean underwear).

You don't seem to be entirely alone in this park either, as you will find one other employee if you search Swackhammer Avenue well enough.

Not exactly the most populated park, huh?

But hey, you can exit the park at least! Except the only thing they'll find is a seedy hotel in the dense fog. After searching, most people will come to realize that this is your living quarters, what with the bios that line the front wall. But hey at least you know you have food beyond hot dogs and smoothies!

Why were you so surprised about things like rain and forests? It's...normal stuff. They're pretty much everywhere in nature.

It's... not stuff that exists anymore, where I'm from. Everything natural was destroyed decades before I was even born.

How did that even happen? It's...hard to believe something as normal as trees can just...not exist anymore.

[That's worse than Coraline had expected. She had thought Audrey simply didn't leave her house much or anything like that, which would have been pretty bad, not that the stuff simply didn't exist]

They chopped down every tree. No one really knows why, but I think it was to... make something? The books say the tufts were softer than silk, so maybe that's why. They just kept using them all up until the last one fell.

Wow... [Capitalism trounces nature. How unsurprising] You know, it won't be a forest, but...maybe a garden would be a start? Gardens are nice, and...you can put anything you want in them.

I mean, there's only the one seed. [do other kinds of plants exist? we just don't know.]

The place you come from sounds like a mess. [Coraline seems to have taken a decision] You know what, I'll give you some seeds once we're out of here. You can plant them and everything will start getting better.

[Aaaaand you'll also introduce a bunch of non-native plants into an already destroyed ecosystem, which may or may not spell doom in the future for the weakened plant population. But details, details]

Yeah, I got lots of seeds. My parents made a garden stuff catalogue so we got samples of products and it's all free, so don't even think about repaying me. It's a gift.

Do you have any ideas? I've... kinda been realizing that pretty much everyone older than me isn't going to be much help at all.

Of course killing is not an option, so...maybe if we can find the bus, we can go back home.

That might work. They might all be crazy, but somebody has to know how to drive.

It doesn't seem like he even wants us here. Did you see how angry he was? It was like...we weren't even worth his time.

[A bit naive to think that just because of that he'd make things easier, but yeah]

I think he was expecting someone else. [frowns] That means... Someone else was responsible for getting us. I wonder who...
