[Now that the Narrator is done explaining the situation, you all have time to assess the situation and maybe even work together to find a way out. After all, clearly the Narrator is being over dramatic and it can't be that hard to escape out of here without murdering everyone, right?

But, with the doors outside indeed locked and all the windows unbreakable, it might not be a bad idea to explore the hotel, either for alternative methods of escape or to relieve boredom. Your Narrator is also now available for private chat in case you want to interrogate him or throw more stuff at his face.

If the locked doors aren't bad enough, when everyone goes back to the lobby, they'll notice a plaque on the front desk. If you thought your Narrator wasn't serious before, this is damning evidence to the contrary.

Either way, we really do hope you enjoy your stay in this hotel.]

Perhaps in your country. In mine, something like this would get you exiled, or at the very least laughed out of town.

Gosh. I didn't know some places had literal fashion police.

[grins] Well, you're not in your country right now, right? It wouldn't hurt to try them on.

More like...an overwrought sense of what's decent and what isn't. They're very small-minded.

[Belle gives the shorts a dubious glance.]

I don't...think so. Not these.

That sure sounds familiar... [mom...]

[She can't help but look a little skeptical.]

Any suggestions?

How about [dramatic pause] pants.

Pants?

[Belle laughs, a little nervously.]

Girls wear those where you're from?

[hallotween]

Duh! Girls can wear whatever we feel like. Check it out!

[she pushes back her coat a bit to reveal... pants! bright pink pants.]

[Belle's eyes go wide with surprise...and then delight.]

And nobody calls them odd? Or funny, or...troublesome?

Well, they might call me that, but that has nothing to do with the pants!

Well then. I'm in good company.

[Belle grins, and proceeds to look through the rack for a suitable pair of pants. She wrinkles her nose at a pair of blue jeans.]

Such heavy fabric!

Yeah, a little, but they look really cool! And that's the most important thing.

[Belle isn't sure what temperature has to do with it, but...]

I'll trust your opinion. And what should I wear on top? A blouse...?

That's still too close to what you usually wear. Try a t-shirt, or maybe even a tank top.

[This a brand-new concept to Belle. She shuffles through some shirts, pulling a few out...]

Are any of these t-shirts?

If it's shaped like the letter, it is. Get it?

[Belle flips through a few more shirts, and finds one that matches that decription—a plain, collarless blouse with nary a button or lace, and short square sleeves that stick out like the ends of a T. It's a light blue color, with a very faded picture of a yellow castle on it.]

...Strange. But it's a nice color. What do you think?

Super cool! [claps hands] Now, go try 'em on!

Okay!

[She might be...a little excited. This is like breaking the rules, except there'll be nobody to treat her poorly for it. She loves it!

She takes her finds behind the racks of clothing, which provide enough cover for her to get out of her stays, petticoats, and chemise and stockings, and pull on the jeans and t-shirt. When she emerges, Belle is grinning.]

This is remarkable! You can see my legs!

[v respectable applause for the level of barrier-breaking we are doing right now]

I know! Scandalous, right? Somebody might see your kneecaps and just faint dead away!

[greatwidesomewhere]

[Belle laughs into her hands, her discarded underthings draped over her arm.]

If I was in Villeneuve, they certainly would. Thank you, um—Marnie, is that right?

[hallotween]

Yep! [nods] And you're Belle, right? I remember from the things in the dining room.

[greatwidesomewhere]

That's right! [She holds out her hand for a shake. That's the modern thing to do, isn't it?] It's very nice to meet you.

[hallotween]

[... maybe like the '50s but that's definitely a start for belle so she'll just. shake back.]
