Week 3

[Three people are dead in the span of one day. Two of which did absolutely nothing to deserve their gruesome deaths. Hopefully, no matter how silly this hope is, it's the last of the deaths in this hotel.

But maybe it's not all bad now? When people awake this Sunday, they will find that the door for 225 is now open, and for some reason leads to a bunch of cool new rooms to explore! Maybe this would be a great opportunity to bond over each other to make sure no one else dies again.

And no one else will die again, right?

[Merlin seems a little more energetic today but not by much. After the events of the trial and Finnick's sudden death, he's more determined to find an escape. He doesn't want anything else to happen to the people trapped here, and the wizard has his own business back home to attend to of course. Who else could guide Arthur?

With the new rooms opening up, he's inclined to explore. He checks out the pool but does not trust the water. Everything else in the hotel was nasty why wouldn't this be?]

Hmph!

[The wizard moves onto the first aid and janitor's closet. It feels insulting to have these open now. Perhaps they could have saved their friends. Either way, he spends a long time here, searching for anything that might help. He makes it a point to organize what supplies are available in case someone gets hurt.

Finally, he spends time in the ballroom. Something about it seems off to him, but the man is old and crazy so don't overthink it. He walks back and forth along the walls in the room as if searching for something.]

[When Merlin sleeps that night, he will find himself somewhere else.

I'm guessing Merlin has at least a passing knowledge of pubs, with his time travel powers. This one seems just like any other pub, although something feels mystical about this whole place.

There is also a man sitting at one of the tables, seemingly waiting for someone.

Investigate?]

[Well this certainly isn't normal. However, that doesn't mean the wizard isn't used to stuff like this. He assumes it's a vision as he wanders the place. The man catches his attention right away.]

Oh... well hello there.

[The man smiles warmly at Merlin, as if he was greeting an old friend.]

Hello Merlin, would you like to order something?

[It doesn't surprise him that this man knows his name. He's very famous after all. His tone is what peaks his interest though as he takes a seat.]

Weeelll I'm not very hungry. All I've wanted these past few weeks is my pipe if we're being honest.

[He stares.]

I feel like I should know you. I just can't put my finger on it....

[He chuckles warmly.]

[Amanda is sitting at one of the tables. She watches him walk back and forth for a few moments before calling out:]

Are you looking for something?

[He jumps a bit, grabbing his hat so it doesn't fall off.]

D-D-Don't do that!

[Merlin takes a breath to calm down before walking toward her.]

I'm searching for hidden passages.

Sorry? If it helps, you're more likely to find a secret passage on those two walls. [She points in either direction to the shorter walls.] The layout doesn't match up with the first floor in those directions and I think those are the outer walls of the hotel where it tends to just. Extend randomly?

Baaah that's too logical when this place is illogical!

. . . It's not that illogical? [Amanda, your life is illogical. Your opinion doesn't count.] It doesn't look exactly like the one I live in, but it's pretty similar and if there were a hidden passage, I don't think it would be on the wall where our rooms are. Someone probably would have found it by now.

Do you know how to use any of this stuff? [beat] I haven't seen anyone hurt, but I get the feeling we may need it sooner than later, you know?

Did I miss notice for a costume party? Erm anyway I wouldn't say I'm that knowledgeable in the medical field, but I have a basic idea of most things here. In practice...not so much.

Oh...well if you think that helps. And yes I think that is a good idea! Perhaps there's a book about it in this room.

Hey, Merlin! [Oswald approaches him as he checks out the walls, a sandwich in his hands.]

Whatcha up to? Found something interesting?

[He stands up straight and rubs his back.]

I was curious if there were any hidden rooms.

Well, don't lose hope just yet, a place like this always has some kind of secret room you have to flip a switch or something to discover.

[He kicks at a dust bunny.]

Who knows where it is, though.

[Merlin nods at him.]

Yeeees you make a good point. We just need to keep searching!

It's all a kind of trick, you know? If there was some kind of secret room in here, it could be activated by stepping on a specific part of the floor.

Or it might just be magic. That's something that happens too. It's kind of a pain actually.

[Dipper was so used to doing the chores around the Mystery Shack that it was actually a little nostalgic to have found one of these. And a little irritating. At least now he knows where to go in case he gets ink on anything else.

What he didn't expect was to find Merlin in here.]

Yeesh! I don't think anyone makes this brand anymore! Is it even legal in the US?

[Merlin takes the bottle from him to inspect it.]

Oh my...this could be very dangerous hm? Perhaps we should find a way to get rid of this before someone get hurt.

It's just window cleaner. I think you just drink milk to make it not make you too sick. The instructions are so old, though... maybe we'll get lucky and the ingredients are too inert to do any damage.
