SECOND TRIAL

[When the investigation is done, the door to the boiler room once again opens, with the elevator doors readily awaiting the remaining guests. Like last time, once everyone is buckled in, the elevator moves backwards and then up, with The Narrator’s voice echoing in.]

Dipper and Merlin, despite their age difference, had a lot in common. They both are fascinated in science, the unusual, and an escape out. Last night, they decided to stay up late, only to both find out that they are forever in an eternal slumber. And they’ll soon learn that they’ll be stuck in a never ending nightmare called… The Twilight Zone.

[Once again the elevator stops abruptly.]

You are about to discover what lies beyond the fifth dimension. Beyond the deepest, darkest corner of the imagination… in the Tower of Terror.

[Did you expect the elevator not to drop again? Because too bad, the elevator drops again. After a few more drops, it once again stops at the top floor, The Tip Top Club.

The soft music fills the room and the Tip Top Club looks almost the same as it was last week. Except now Preston, Finnick, Merlin, and Dipper’s pictures on the wall are also in grayscale. The Narrator is still sitting on the stage, but he is now sitting in the chair like a normal human being. In his hands there is the all-too-familiar Talky Tina, that The Narrator is thoughtfully looking over. When the guests enter the club, he finally looks up.]

Welcome again to the trial room, everyone. I hope you remember all the rules from last week, but if you need a refresher I may explain the rules again.

...I'm definitely gonna need a shower after this, I can tell you that. [Urgh.]

But I guess that gives us something to go off of. If we can place who else was at the pool...

Check the shoes. They may have changed clothes, but they may have forgotten to change their shoes.

There was water tracked all over, though.

[From Tadashi and Chip, too.]

Someone could've stepped in it just about anywhere.

We still need to narrow down the list of suspects somehow. If someone has water on their shoes and nobody saw them investigating, they'd be suspicious, right?

I guess you've got a point there. Doesn't hurt to check.

[Since it was Virgil's idea, he'll just. Awkwardly lift his feet one at a time. He's not wearing shoes or anything but either way his feet are dry.]

Do we...smell everyone, then?

It's probably our best bet.

[A little more awkward than he would've liked, but still better than the stripping plan they had going last time.]

Erm... I guess... if we line up I can... sniff everyone...

[He. Kind of regrets suggesting this now.]

[She holds out her sleeved arm for Donald to sniff. It's clean.]

[well, Chip's got your starter-scent covered, duckbro.]

[Tadashi smells very much like pool, but he's also still damp, like Chip. He has a good reason.]

[ Naw, no smell here! ]

[Goofy's clean, except for his shoes, which have a rrrrrrrreally faint smell of dirty pool water. ]

I was checkin' out the pool the other day though-- Stepped in a puddle. I dunno why anyone would ever wanna take a swim in it.

[He had his hopes up just to be let down by the pool.]

...Right.

[He likes Goofy. A lot, actually. And he thinks better of him than to accuse him of killing a kid- he had a son, after all- and an old man. But still...]

The other day? How long ago, exactly?
